ahh yes, Doom 3. Lookig forward to that myself, also. Although i never though of Doom as a "scary" game, but more of a fun one thats somewhat scary. If this one has soem scary elements, that would be cool. But i don't want it to turn into a horror game, thats not what im interested in.

Have you seen the screenshots for it yet ???, well if not go to www.doom3.com (am i allowed to post the site?), they have screenshots there ;)

IMO it looks a bit horrorish, i just cant believe they have brought Doom back after all these years ;D, BTW they did the same thing with Wolfenstein ;)

Well Wolfenstein was done well though. Kinda scary, but still enjoyable. Doom i dont want to be HORRIFIC..but scary. I dont know i know iom proably not making much sense...its just i always didnt think of doom as an incredibly scary game that actually takes courage to play.

System Shock 2. I've had my teamates run around in circles, trying to get away from things that weren't there(there are some decent mods for it too).

System Shock, i know i have played it sometime...it was very good from what i can remember.

It's based on System Shock, so I'll start with that.

You play the hacker that created an extremely intelligent AI(Shodan). It(she) thought it was better than humanity, and I think you can figure where it goes from there. Then you(Shodan's creator) spend the game, trying to destroy Shodan.
Fast foward a few years.

System Shock 2
Earth is now capable of faster than light travel. They build the first faster than light spaceship. They leave Earth(I think to colonize, but it might have been exploring).
Fast foward 2 weeks.

You wake up, and you've got an enhanced body(like Robocop, only more human). Everyone is either dead(most), hiding(few), or running(fewer). Your job is to save the ship, and the few remaining people. Good story, but I'm trying to avoid giving it away.

By the way, because SS2 is a hybrid of many game genres, it's normally called an Immersive Simulation.

It has a lot of language in it, but almost all can be avoided with ease(but you'll miss a lot of the story).

I like reading ;D

I will have to have a look at the game cos it sounds really interesting :D

Yeah, i remember the game now. Its very, very good. And the whole plot/storyline only gets better, in my oppinion. :)

Like many KQ games, it's old enough, that it might have trouble with a new OS, or hardware. It doesn't seem to work on GeforceFX(Nvidia), or later, graphics cards(I think it works fine on ATI cards).

They probably won't make a sequel, because of legal/financial problems, even though the story almost requires one.

A guy's updating the graphics with a mod, I don't like it(new graphics+old graphics=clashing graphics), but the graphics ARE good.

Also, even though it's an old game, it has good graphics(unique).

I have a Geforce2 so i dont know if it would work on mine or not :-\

I used to have a Geforce2MX. It worked fine for me, as long as I didn't use the latest drivers(the drivers made after the FX was on the market, crashes the game).

I use the latest drivers :-\, so i won't be able to run it :'(

I also used the latest drivers. I went on the Nvidia website, and downloaded the old drivers. Then I installed the old drivers. When I'm done playing SS2, or want to play a newer game, I re-install the new ones. It's a lot of trouble to go thru, but at least it can still be played with a Geforce2.

The thread isn't just about Doom3. I think the guy that made Doom, called it that, for this reason.

In a movie he watched, a guy asks what's in the box? Another guy replies "doom." He thought it'd be cool, if he could say that about his laptop.

Say

interesting :P

Doom3 = <3 <3 <3 <3

I so can't wait to play it myself
