King's Quests V, VI, and VII all feature vocally sung songs throughout the game. KQV has We're The Ants and The Weeping Willow Song, KQ VI featured Girl in the Tower which was released as a single, and KQ VII opened with "Grow Up, Young Lady."

Which is the best, which is the worst?

Grow Up, Young Lady is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Yes, it's bad... but I kinda like it

Numbers

I voted for "Girl in the Tower" as the worst, based on the following reasons:

--The other songs are equally as painful, but none of them are more than a minute long

--Sierra seemed to think that "Girl in the Tower" was actually a good song, and it ended up getting overplayed on the radio

--"Girl in the Tower" is boring, and it makes the end credits of KQ6 boring

--If you like it, then your spouse will break up with you

--Also, you will end up in prison

--Also, you will die alone

--Also, you will burn in hell

:shame:
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

Bludshot

Yeah the idea that Girl in the Tower was supposed to be some kind of music hit was pretty laughable.

You know I didn't even look at the question. I voted for Girl in the Tower because it's the one I like the most. I think it was a great expansion of Cassima's Theme from KQV, even if it was melodramatically performed (though it fits in better with early 90s sensibilities). Land Beyond Dreams was cheesy, as KQVII was in general, but I loved how it opened the game. It set the tone and let you know what you were in for. I, for one, was up for it. :P

The Weeping Willow Song wasn't great, but it was also buried and not trying to draw attention to itself. It was short, simple, and served its purpose. It brought depth to the character and the game and I like there being content like that that isn't paraded. On the exact opposite side of the spectrum, We're The Ants was just too mind-bogglingly confusing to be considered bad. I loved it. It was cheesy and ridiculous, but in a way that fit in with the tone of KQV and its voice acting. It was cute, and I think the game was better for its inclusion.

Girl in the Tower was probably the only one that didn't serve to enrich the game, but it fit in with all of the Disney movies at the time that had very similar songs playing over their credits, so I guess it never struck me as odd. :P
