Sleeping Beauty: What was Merryweather's Gift?

So I ask this every once and a while because this is a question that has kinda driven me crazy for a long time but I never really got a satisfying answer so I'll ask you to come up with the answers!

Sleeping Beauty is a movie made by Disney where the main characters are not the prince or princess but rather three Fairies.

Upon her birth the three Fairies give onto her each a special gift. Flaura gives her the gift if beauty and Fauna gives her the gift of song.

Merryweather is about to bestow upon her a gift when Malefacent, the coolest disney villain of all time, breaks in and curses Aurora to die. So Merryweather instead changes her gift to save the Princess.

Yet the question remains: What the world was Merryweather originally going to gift?

We have Beauty and Song, what else does a disney princess need?

Grace? was it going to be grace? my vote is on grace, though Aurora clearly didn't need it.

Kindness or Compassion would have been a nice gift. Then again, she exhibits that already.

Honestly Disney Princesses are so generic sometimes I'd love a parody where someone stops the Fairy Godmothers from passing on their gifts...

16 years later and Aurora is... exactly the same.

They've gotten better over the years though.

What disney Princess isn't the most beautiful and best singing female?

Heck Mulan absolutely made SURE that any woman who wasn't Mulan or her mother was UGLY or chubby or just clearly not in Mulan's league.

Which is what I sort of see with the "best friend" characters in Disney Princess movies. They always have a somewhat plump face, not fat... but just enough that they are more average then beautiful. To the point where the most beautiful side characters in a princess movie was Pocahontas' best friend.

Pocahontas had a much nicer rack though.

Ohh don't get me wrong, Pocahontas is clearly better looking then her.

But when your only competition for being a better looking side character are the Blond Triplets from Beauty and the Beast... yeah. Clearly there is no "Getting better"

Hey, those blond triplets could really fill out a corset.  Gaston could have totally gotten some 3-on-1 action from them.

Don't get too crass, guys.

I like the take Fables has on Sleeping Beauty's many gifts--they are completely literal. So when she's given the gift of "singing like a bird"...she literally sings like a bird. She tweets. Great for birds, not so much for humans!

Besides the reason Aurora doesn't have too much of a personality is simple

She isn't the main character of Sleeping Beauty her Fairy Godmothers are.

It's not just the princesses that are generic, but often the plot lines. At the risk of hijacking your thread:

What Disney Movie Is This?

The story (plot points are mostly in order):

·         In the beginning, animals nearby come to see the birth of the prince
·         Early on, the prince goes to an interesting new place, that's very dangerous.  A female friend is with him.  This female friend is a little more graceful than the prince.  When the danger appears, he's saved from the danger and the enemy by his father.
·         The enemy in the story tries again, and this time is more successful, killing one of the prince's parents.
·         The prince has two good friends, one who's a bit silly and sarcastic, and the other who has, shall we say "aroma" problems.
·         When he's older, the prince meets the female again, who's still more graceful than he is.   He falls for her upon seeing her again.
·         The prince faces the enemy again, this time with the other parent and his new girlfriend close by.  This time he is wounded, but survives.  The climax occurs during a fire and the fire adds to the danger of the battle between the prince and the enemy.
·         The story ends with the all the nearby animals again returning to witness the birth of a new generation as the prince watches on.

I actually wrote this elsewhere a long time ago. It came to me while watching Disney movies with my then two year old, and she's now nine.
In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Sounds like The Lion King, though I'm not sure about some of the details.

Also, I love your signature! ;D I just noticed it. It reminds me of one a friend had a while back:

...which leads me here
