I bought the 3 episode pack from The Adventure Shop on the weekend. I had never heard of it before but was drawn in by the pretty face on the add in their email and some decent reviews.

I must say, I was very pleased. I can't tell you how long I played, I just played the episodes back to back and stayed up a little late to finish episode 3. I played at 1680x1050 at the Fantastic level and did not suffer any issues.

There were some load times that were questionable with my 32 GB of ram, but I wasn't running the eps of an SSD so whatever. I never crashed, I never experienced stuttering or artifacts or any sound issues. Bravo, I was very pleased, not since Syberia have I had such a problem free first run of an adventure game.

So, I will give the game 8.5/10. A .5 off for certain story issues that were not atrocious, but did make me chuckle and 1 for the walking and running animations.

Holy poop, those are the worst animations I've ever seen in any game ever. I still occasionally play like Rogue's Quest and King's Quest and all those old games and even the first few games' stilted movement was better than this. Please change that, it takes me right out of the game every time I have to walk around. I am sure you've heard that before.

Anyway, it kept me focused for quite a while and in general I am very happy. I definitely feel like I got my money's worth and will be playing again. For those who don't own it yet, I think the eps were on sale until May 31.

I eagerly anticipate Episode 4 and will stay tuned to see if Phoenix dives into anymore mystery adventure games.

Hello viperswhip and welcome to the forums! Thanks so much for your feedback--it does help us and it's great to see that overall you're really enjoying the game!

Our walking animations are among the things we're working on improving--I don't know that they'll change at all for Episode 4 of Cognition, but certainly we're working on making them better for future games.

Thanks again and I hope you stick around :)

I agree with viperswhip about the addicting nature of the games. Each time a new episode has come out, I've done one straight play through. In some ways, I find them more addicting than the Gabriel Knight series, but that's probably because of the episodic release method.

I can also say that animations are pretty bad, and some elements doesn't make sense but it's doesn't bother me at all, nothing is perfect afterall.

After finishing the 3rd episode i can definitely say it's one of the best adventure games i have played (i also really liked Still Life 1 years back) and i can't wait for a last chapter.

Storyline is amazing and because i love criminal thrillers it has dragged me in for good.Erica and Cornelia are great and memorable characters (of course i have to mention voice acting), however i wish John got a bit bigger role because for two episodes he simply sits at his desk almost all the time uninvolved.

Graphic art style and soundtrack are both very good and i love them.

Everything blends together very well and i can't wait for episode 4, if there is ever going to be a sequel or a spiritual successor on kickstarter i am gonna put my money on that.

10/10 ofc ;)
