ep2 tape in morgue

I am at the part where I pull the fire alarm to gain access to the morgue. I investigated the body and took the tape, but didn't examine the tape or use it on the tape recorder before I left the morgue.

After the conversation with the two people in the lobby, I went to the FBI office and the tape has disappeared from my inventory. If I examine the tape recorder it says that it is empty.

Well, that doesn't seem right. Obvious question, but was the tape in your inventory before you left the morgue?

oh no. I went to check the save and I found out I had loaded the wrong file this morning, before I visited the morgue.
