So, Microsoft has just announced their next generation console the Xbox-One which seems to be like a mix of a console and a cable box.

And I gotta say... this generation of consoles seems like it'll be a boring one, none of the consoles interest me. The Wii-u looks underpowered, the tablet controller doesn't really motivate me and honestly, I'm tired of Nintendo's franchises with the exception of Metroid

Xbox One: Meh Most likely its best games will end up on PC like they did for the original xbox and the xbox 360

PS4: Looks to be the least bad of every console, but I haven't seen any game yet that motivates me to get one. I'm tired of the Killzone, god of War and GT combo

Apparently Microsoft is also working to make a Steven Spielberg Halo Live-Action TV Show available for the Xbox One.  Sounds pretty neat. The WiiU and PS4 don't really interest me that much, though then again I don't do a whole lot of console gaming.

I'll admit the show might be cool, but I'd rather if they had revealed games

Bludshot

I'll stick to GOG and Steam games.

My sweetie made sure to get the Wii U as soon as possible because he thought it would sell out like the Wii.  We only have Scribblenauts and NSMB for it.  Nothing else has come out that looks interesting or isn't something we already have on the PS3.

As for the other two, I doubt we'll get them unless there are exclusive games we really want.  I'm not really impressed, and it looks like they'll be more hassle than I want to deal with.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.

Aww!  You have the Sword of Hugging +3!  All of your attacks deal affectionate damage!

The Wii-U Controller does seem interesting though...

Yep, that's what I thought, the Wii-u is currently going through a massive drought :\

Only the onion would think anyone's excited for the new xbox! :P

Yeah I've been pretty underwhelmed by the Xbox One news so far. And I do agree that their best stuff tends to either get on another platform or on PC pretty quickly, so I've never really felt the need to have an Xbox.

I also agree about the Wii U drought, though I have been pleased with some of their virtual console stuff lately. I picked up Super Metroid for 30 cents, you can't beat that with a stick. Actually, some gamers can't beat it at all these days.

The gamepad also helps keep my kids entertained watching Netflix or playing Scribblenauts (which is actually a great game for elementary school age kids I think). ZombiU is pretty fun too.

I'm hoping to see some solid new offerings from Nintendo at their E3 direct show stuff. Their last Metroid was a bit of a disappointment in my opinion so I hope to see them showing something new there, and a new Zelda would certainly be nice.

My thoughts on the xbox one right now can be summed up to this:

also, if anyone knows what show this is, please tell me :P

Really I just think that game console developers should stick to gaming. This push to make them into all-in-one entertainment hubs is unnecessary and annoying in my opinion. Now I do like that my kids can watch Netflix on the Wii U gamepad, but they could also do so on my iPad. I'd just rather have these developers put that extra time and effort into games.

If I want an all-in-one platform, you know what I do? I turn on my PC

This is a good point. Why do we need all-in-one consoles when we have computers?

I just don't see the appeal in consoles, outside of bragging rights for those who like to "pwn" the "n00bs" with "headshots," trying to avoid "rocket w*****," at some point "teabagging," then proclaiming "i r winner." What a bunch of illiterate scumbags.

All of which can still be done on your PC, at that.

The control scheme is obviously very different, and the next gen consoles can be pretty powerful--I don't know that my computer could handle the graphics of some of those games. And it's a machine purely dedicated to gaming--no other functionality or purpose needs to be considered. Well, except for now, as they try to more and more combine TV and gaming consoles into a single source.

Yeah for me one of the main perks of consoles is you never have to wonder about system requirements. You have a PS3, you get a PS3 game, it works. And if it's Skyrim 80 hours later it stops working.

But you get the general idea.

And now, a musical send-off to this past generation of consoles. :)

I just buy them for the exclusives, games like Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronies, Lost Oddyssey, etc.

and that song was hilarious Katie!
