Steam key - making sure I've not done something dumb.

So, received my Steam key, and entered it.

I suspect I'm just being dumb on this one, but I've not received any e-mail confirmation of the game, nor is it showing up on my list of owned games. I suspect this has something to do with Cognition not yet showing up in the store anyway, but I want to check and make sure I've not done something stupid.

Yeah, I don't think it's nothing to be too concerned w/ yet. I actually ended up doing the same (I got my Steam key today, too). I'm thinking it'll kick in once Cognition officially goes live on Steam tomorrow and it'll probably show up in our library then.....I'd guess.

It didn't give me any error messages when I put mines in so I'd assume I did it correctly and it's just a matter of waiting for it to arrive in store.

Hey everyone,

We sent the keys a bit early. The game will release on Steam tomorrow at 10 AM PDT. That's when you will then see the game in your library!

Thanks!

Suh-weet! ;D

Thanks for the info Cez! Hey btw, just out of curiousity would we still be able to use the same save data if we've originally purchased the elsewhere (like for those of us that bought season passes elsewhere, then got Steam keys later). I completely finished ep 1 and I had somewhat started ep 2, but stop (actually I purposely did it since I knew you guys where getting Greenlit on Steam).

I guess what I'm getting at is are there going to be any differences in the Steam version or the way we access the game that will mess w/ any save data we have from previously purchased non-Steam versions?

Cez

I think they'll work, but I'm not 100% sure.

What about achievements?? You are not getting Ep1's ones? :)

Well, I'm not sure....I mean, unless I'd have to replay it again or something. Do you know if achievements are retroactive?  :-\

LOL, I'm not exactly what you'd call a trophy/achievement w****; so it's not a pressing for me to double back and play a game I completed. If they don't unlock retroactively by the time the game goes live on Steam, then I might replay it after I get through eps 2-4.  ;)

Incidentally, a great deal of the achievements track whether or not you made one choice or another (as an early example, whether or not you succeed or fail at solving Scott's trap in Ep1), so you'll generally need to see all that the game offers in order to get all of the achievements.

I used mine and I was worried too. But if you check your account transactions, you should see the game on the list :) So it should pop up on your game library when released.

If you email a proof of purchase for any episodes you own to support@postudios.com we'll get the keys to you, thanks!

My question is related to the Steam key so I'll post it here. The game is on my list, but when I click install it states that the disk space required is close to 7Gb - that is, it will download and install all episodes; I don't suppose there's a way to choose which episodes to download?

Thank you!

wilco64256

Steam does have all the episodes together so there's not a way to pick and choose single episodes to download from there.

Well that's cool too, lol, I figured that's how the achievements probably would've panned out. But as I told Cez, it's not pressing matter for me to go back and play it just yet. I'm too much of an A.D.D. gamer to backtrack and replay something I've just finished so recently. See the story unfold is the 'achievement' to me, lol, so once I've seen the end result of that particular story, it actually becomes rather boring to me to replay something (especially if I know the end-result isn't gonna change).

Like I said I'll go back eventually and play the first ep, but right now I'm more psyched to move forward!  ;D

If we purchased the episodes on another site, are we able to get Steam keys too ?

stika

If you don't mind me asking, what site did you purchase it from? :)
