Sierra is back online (started back about 1 week ago).. But it's not Sierra Online anymore, it's Sierra Entertainment. :)

Sierra was renamed to Sierra Entertainment after it was bought by Vivendi, if I recall correctly, about 2001. Before that it had been Sierra Studios. Sierra hasn't officially gone by Sierra On-Line *technically* since 1998, when they rebranded all of their games and split the development teams into 5 studios. So technically, Sierra Entertainment would be the correct name.

Although Vivendi did have their Xbox arcade company named Sierra Online (no dash) in the mid to late 2000's.

Talk to you later!

I saw this news on facebook and came on here to see if anyone's posted and saw this thread.  The post I saw on FB linked an artical other than the one Orion pasted.  It is quite a good reed :)

I am always optimistically hesitant.

The problem is that point and clicks have pretty much devolved, with few exceptions, to Telltale and quantic dream's level.

While they make great games and should be praised, they are the standard of which all point and clicks are judged and unfortunately they are "everyone can pass" sort of games.

I am really worried that the new industry standards means that any new Kings Quest will have to be as easy as humanly possible... or need to be so for anyone to give it any attention.
