unable to save a game

I just started and can't save a game. I clicked on the crest and selected SAVE. I entered my description and pressed SAVE. I went back a minute later and it's not there. The game won't save my preference for options, like subtitles ON. It's gonna be a simple solution but treat me like an idiot anyway. Thanks in advance.

I'm also unable to search before posting. I am now running as Administrator and I can't wait to explore the world you have recreated for me. This game is breathtaking and I've only seen a dozen rooms! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS GAME!
