so I ended up dying from drinking from the Fountain of Youth.

I've always heard, if you die in a dream, you really died.

You just disproved the hypothesis? lol

Well, also, I wasn't me.  I was a character in a movie...my name was Edward Shale. I mean, you can die in am ovie without actually dying so.....

I always wake up, a split-second before I die.

People don't die in my dreams, they just have near-fatal accidents. .

Usually me too.  I've gotten shot a few times, and then with my last breaths try to do something.  But I think I've had a dream where I've seen myself getting killed (outer body experience?).

I remember this one dream, at least, where a guy I knew was chasing me all over my hometown, and eventually he caught me and stabbed me, and I woke up a split second after I "died".

(FWIW, the guy in my dream was an utter psycho in real life, and did try to kill me twice! )

Part of what Yonkey said led me to another question. Do people here tend to have more first-person dreams (i. e., seeing through your own eyes) or third-person dreams (i. e. seeing yourself in the dream).

I tend to have more third-person dreams. In fact, I've had dreams where I wasn't in the dream at all! (At least, not in any form recognizable as myself.)

Usually it's third person for me. I'm not sure why, though.  Most people I talk to dream in first person.

I dream both ways. Though I dream more 3rd-person dreams.

I think most of mine are 3rd person, though everything I feel, see and control is as if it were me and not some projection of myself.

Well, I honestly don't remember my dreams well enough to say completely 100% if it's 1st or 3rd person.

I probably have some movie-esque type 3rd person sequences in there...but my instinct still tells me that they're usually 1st person.

The majority of my dreams are first person.

And talking about violent dreams, I once had a dream about a guy trying to break into our house.  He was shooting at us through the windows, and then made it into the basement and up into the house, shooting at my mom, sister and me the whole time.  *shivers* I still get chill bumps when I remember that one!

urgh i had a horrible break in dream...it was in my nans and i was screaming but no sound was comign out...very scary, i couldnt warn anyone!

I dream mostly first person too, but would be nice to have teh choice :p

Kim: Those dreams are nasty. I used to have them on a regular basis when I was younger. You just try to scream and you then nothing happens and you feel all suffocated and stuff. *shudder*

I don't know if I've had any of those dreams where you can't scream, no matter how hard you try.  But I will say that repeatedly getting shot at in a dream and you have no clue that it's a dream is (for me) the worst!

I dont believe i'vwe ever had a third person dream...
But then again, im not always myself. Just the other day I was superman.  

when I was little (3,4)
 I had a reoccuring nightmare in which I was standing in my back yard at sunset. All of the sudden the sun would get in my eyes and a hunter would appear on the hornizon. Then hed shoot me and i'd fall into a rabbit hole.

It was the same every time.

Had two dreams last night...

The first one I was at a friend's house and the water was running in the bathroom.  And all these little green bugs/critter things were running all over the place.  They tried crawling on me *shivers*.  Later, this HUGE rat comes in and goes out through some holes in the wall.  Creepy!

The second one was about a guy that I used to want to date (to this day, I believe I was in love with him--but that's another story).  Anyway, he and his girlfriend (which he doesn't have right now in RL) came over to my house...and informed me that they were engaged!  Argh...talk about waking up with a broken heart!
