At my age I think I'm in the top 5 of computer knowleged people. I don't know any programming codes though. I know HTML, simple and rather repetitive after a while. Oh well, it keeps my website running.

Out of the regular posters, you're the most knowledgable about Linux(IMHO). So I've been wondering why you haven't posted there yet.

I can put computers together, reprogram them, and use every OS out there...
I may not know the most but I know a fair bit.

Out of curiosity... do you know what the major differences between it and Unix are(I can't find any good information on it )?

Solaris I'm not as familiar with, but if it's a version of Linux I could probably use it alright.

Unix is hardware programmed, Linux is publicly released software, other than that there aren't too many major differences.

It's an expensive OS, used in servers.

I understand there are many differences(like the difference between OS-X and Windows)...

but I wouldn't know what they are.

It's a subset of Unix, so it is sort of a rival of Linux but with the same basic concepts.

I know our previous SUN server (at work) had Solaris on it, but I haven't seen the desktop of the new one yet, so I wouldn't know. All I know is it's some sort of Unix.

I haven't gotten there yet. And I don't think I will soon either. I had a short dabble on it last weekend, but I was still on page 7, IIRC.
