I know that most people here, that care about the game, already know about it, but I'm going to post it for the few that don't know. :P

Bethesda Softworks(Morrowind) is going to be making it. :-\

Other than that, I don't know many details. Does anyone else here have more information on Fallout3? ???

Ummmmm what is Fallout? Can't say I've heard of the series before. I take it its a RPG if the Morrowind team are making it though...

I've never played the game, but it has a great deal of fans, and they've been waiting for a sequel for a LONG time. It takes place in the aftermath of some sort of horrid disaster(nuclear war?).

I think the big problem(for the fans), is whether or not it will be a "true" sequel, or a warped/spin-off version of the game.

P.S. Yes, it's a RPG. I'm not sure about the Morrowind team making it though(they're making Elder Scrolls IV at the moment). I THINK they'll be making it, but ZeniMax Media(owner of Bethesda Softworks) might have other plans. :-\

Yeah, I've played the game, and when I was studying for my 3d Certifications, I worked for Micro Forte, they made Fallout Tactics.
Got to see all the inside stuff making the game and see the 3d cutscenes been produced.

The Fallout games are completely spifftacular RPGs. They take place in California, in indeed the aftermath of a nuclear war. What's fun is that instead of taking place in a realistic future, they take place in more a cheesy 1950's sort of view of the future. They're very dark kitsch. Great for anyone who likes roleplaying, dark humor, a bit of strategy in their RPG battles and gratuitously messy death scenes. There's a fair amount of depth lurking in the plot as well. Plus points if you're the sort of person who thinks fighting giant mutant creatures with a Red Ryder BB gun is hilarious. Fallout 1 also manages to have what is IMHO one of the best intros and endings of a computer game.

More fun happy Fallout info.

As long as Fallout 3 is an RPG and has the same bizarre dark kitsch atmosphere of the original two, I'll be itching to play it no matter who makes it. ;D

They claim it's going to keep the atmosphere/style/etc. Although, I doubt the interface/control/view is going to be anywhere near like the first 2. :-\

Darkstar

The fallout series is a must for any RPG fan.  I'm not a fan of post apoc stuff, but I love this series.
There is no reason not to buy it if you can still find it, because they have both in a 2 pack called a dual jewel for $10.

I never claimed to play the part of a sane man.

B'rrr

never heard of the series, but I like RPG's so I might check it out...  :D

Personally, I'd rather not try the series. Out of what I've heard, it has a dark theme(not KQ9 type of dark). If the humor/plot/graphics are as dark as I've heard, it sounds like a VERY depressing game. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me(as I hope someone will). :-\

Although, as far as gameplay goes, it's sounds like a VERY interesting game. :D

P.S. I'm, more or less, wanting to know details about the "atmosphere" of the game. :P

(frowns thoughtfully)

Well, the ending of Fallout 1 is kind of depressing... I can't say too much without giving stuff away.

The game itself isn't so much depressing per se as it is darkly philosophical. You won't be bawling your eyes out or anything like that... just sort of disquieted as you mull over the hidden darker sides of humanity. Of course, I like games that make me think, even if the outcome is somewhat disturbing (maybe especially if), so I'm biased...

Fallout 2 is a less bleak game, with more humor and a less depressing ending. (I think... been a while since I played it.)

I guess you could avoid it if you're adamant about never playing any game that doesn't have a happy-ever-after ending, but you'd be missing out on 2 great computer games... (plus you wouldn't want to play my most favorite RPG either...)

Deus Ex is one of my favorite game series' of all time. The first game, had what I consider a X-files type plotline(government conspiracies). The second, had what I'd call a dark theme(a little girl died, because I made a mistake :'( ). I think you could appreciate their sense of humor(by that, I'm referring to the ending).

*gets back on-topic*

I might try it, but I'll be reading up on it, before I decide if it's a game I'd like to play.

P.S. I'm guessing that compared to Fallout, DeusEx isn't that dark of a game. :P
