OK ok I know what you're all thinking "ANOTHER MUSIC THREAD!?" BUT this one is different as I want to keep it on topic as much as possible  :P.

So basically if you've just got a new album, or rediscovered an oldie but goodie then discuss it here!

I'll start with

Vanessa Carlton - Harmonium

Its a long time since 'A thousand miles' was released back in late 2001 and despite another single released from her first album, I never really heard much on UK radio or music channels. Hopefully with the release of this album there'll be alot more attention.

Anywayz, about the songs. I think the first single from the albums been released in the US already called White houses (With a majorly cool video I might add) and its a pretty good indication of what to expect from the rest of the album - progressive piano melodies with a fair bit of orchestration going on in the background in accompniment to Vanessa's captivating voice. If you like Tori Amos im pretty sure you'll find something on this album you can connect with.

EDIT: I forgot to say, Vanessa is cats double :x

I do believe it's somewhat really interesting, when it comes to music and projectwise, at first I just got some songs but now I feel like completly addicted or something, although I like most of their songs I just don't like "where is the love?" :P

I've heard alot of people say good things about this album. I've liked a few of their singles so far (the cheesy hey ya video was so cool :D) are the rest pretty much more of the same?

Soulwax - Much against everyone's advice

Really liking this atm. I think in one word its...quirky. Some of the tracks sound like they should be on a hard rock anthem compilation then some are quite indie based. Anyway despite the mix of different styles (some mild glitch music even!) it somehow works as a really great album.

Just wondering, has anyone actually heard of Soulwax? I'm not 100% sure but I think they're somehow linked to "2 many DJs" although the vocalist on this album is American and I was sure 2 many DJs were Dutch...

Flood-They Might Be Giants

Best album ever. Hits like Birdhouse in your soul, Particle Man,and Istanbul (Not Constantanople) are just plain great. As a plus it has 19 songs on it.The Song We want a rock is one of my favorites (See My Sig.) ;D :stabs:

What kind of music would you say Flood are? I've never heard of them before ya see.

BUT yeah thanks for resurrecting the thread!

My current fave is:

The Arcade Fire - Funeral

Wow there are SO many awesome bands coming out of Canada atm, i may just move there when I finally emigrate! If I did I wouldnt have to wait for more tickets to become available for Arcade Fires UK tour :'(

So, the band. I really don't know who to compare them to, I guess the "Indie" label would work but they're so unlike anything else that I can think of. Oh and also there is Accordion, which can only be a good thing. Anyway, check out a few songs on their website and also below is a live performance which I also highly recommend.

well i might as well post an album.....

Rage Against The Machine- The Battle Of Los Angeles

The album that made Rage's Career skyrocket as a political rock band featuring huge hits as Sleep now in This Fire, Testify, and Guerilla Radio, then followed up by their next album that made them even more huge before the band broke up, rengades:

>Jump In Well :D

They Might Be Giants-NO!

This is there first kids album. What is great about this album is the style is the same but some of the subjects are differnt. Also it is not all quiet and soft is is fun stuff kids can dance to,plus some of it is educational. Some highlights are are songs like Fibber island, Four of two, NO!, and Bed Bed Bed. And i like on the back it says "The end of the albums song sequence is specially designed to expedite slumber, so liseners should not operate machinery or plush animals while listening to the last three songs. :stabs:
