I tend to think that 5 was the best. The worst to me was when they went Disney in 6 (I think it was 6). Whatever happened to 8? I think it was supposed to be 3D.

KQ7 was the "cartoony" one.

The 8th KQ game, Mask of Eternity, was 3D(it was the only action/adventure Kings Quest game).

Information about all the KQ games can be found here  8)

Sorry for coming off as ignorant, it's been awhile since I actually thought of these games especially since the last time I tried to play them I had to change over my PC to 98.

I know there's another website where they redid the first three KQ's. Know the link?

You must mean www.agdinteractive.com ;)
But they only re-made the first two, at least for now 8)

Favorite KQ was KQ6 -- point and click interface done well -- different islands to travel to -- lots of fun

Worst KQ was KQ8 -- not a true KQ in my opinion and it was too dark -- reminds one of a Doom type game

The worst KQ I've played was KQ7.  I felt the puzzles were very nonsensical, I didn't like the streamlined interface.  The voice acting wasn't too hot either for the most part.  I didn't mind the art sytle itself but it was such a jarring change from the previous games I think it worked against it.

My favourite is porably KQ6, it had a great story, great music, graphics (for its time, but the style holds up)

I take you never played MOE ::)
Before MOE came out, I would have said the same thing (except for the voice acting).
But right now it's

Worst - MOE
Best - KQ6

In response to Storm, I played MOE about 10 minutes at a Radio Shack on their store computers.  I remember thinking how clumsy the combat was (but then I had no idea how to actually play the game).  The fact that there was combat in a KQ game kind of turned me off as well.  However I can't say I've played it enough to properly judge it.

As for the KQ7 acting, it's been years since I've played it, but I remember Valenice being very whiny and Rosella sounding too 'valley girl' for my liking.  I think she was ready to start going all 'as if!' on us.  Some of the other acting was okay as I remember.

The best of all, in my opinion, is the KQ 2 VGA remake...the plot is so much stronger than the original, everything comes together well.
Other good ones:
-KQ4
-KQ5
-KQ7

And yes, the ugly:
-KQ2 (original)
-KQ8

It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

The very best is still KQ9 of course.  :D

I can't wait to see the magic animals in action.

Magic animals? (I know of one that will be in the game...the...err...whatsitcalled..."dangling participle"...errr...you know "Take me home to...")?

My fave was the one that introduced me to adventure games as a whole back in 1994; KQ VI  ;D

...hopefully KQ IX will reignite that old "fuzzy" feeling that I can only get whilst playing games I haven't played in centuries! :)

The best ones for me where KQ7 and KQ6, although i like 3-D intro i only have the floppy disk MS-DOS version. Never the less I think the worst was MoE, too bad graphics (triangle splashes of water) and the music in Daventry scared me.

It was actually 1992 KQVI come out.

My best, like many people, was KQ6 (I love KQ7, but it's being annoying for me right now).  If I'm to consider it a KQ, MoE is my worst, but other than that, prolly 5.  I will retry playing it, but it was just far too slow-paced and Graham bugged me.

I agree.  After KQ6, my next two favourites are KQ2VGA and KQ1VGA.  They're technically not part of the actual series, but they're way better than the Sierra originals. ;D
