We've just started getting this on C4 and it looks like it could be quite a laugh! The first episode had its moments but it wasn't anything majorly amazing although its opened a whole load of plot lines which look promising.

I'd imagine it's a bigger deal in the US where the sterotype white picket fence perfect households actually do exist, but hey, I need my 6 feet under type show fix while they're filming the 5th (and last  :'() series

So yeah, whats the verdict over the pond?

Ummm...I've watched a couple episodes.  Yes, it is funny, but I just don't care at all for the promescuity (sp?) through the shows. *shrugs* not sure what else I could say about it...

well, there is so much more than the promiscuity in the serie, and as a matter of fact wether anyone would like to admit it or not it's a reality that many wives do go through, when your husband cheats on you with the secretary, when actually someone in the relationship looks for someone else to fullfil the void of a husband who is never there, and of course, the all mighty supah perfect wife that can't allow one simple mistake even it that goes into a psycho level AND of course, the trouble of raising like 4 kids at the same time, obviously the most important is the narrator's life which has the dark secret of the misterious baby thing, reason why she just shoot herself one random day.

the serie itself does have a lot to give in a kinda dark humor in which shows the many circumstances which happen to be reality nowdays, and even though every single continent may share a different culture the reality of the human nature is pretty much the same, although I do not particulary share it, I can't deny it's taken out from real life in a twisted way obviously with the drama/humor mix going on.

IMHO I think it's really neat, it's not as dark as  6 feet under, it's actually of the same one who did "Sex in the city", and I must say this one is so not compared like the previous I mentioned so, obviously the "promiscuity" topic is by no means the main focus of the serie, you would have to watch to actually get going with the plot.

I saw parts of a few episodes, but not a whole show. I'm such a chronic channel-flipper that I hardly ever see an entire show of anything, unless it's something I really like (which is rare), in which case I'll even watch the commercials (horror of horrors!) Anyway, I thought Desperate Housewives had some pretty funny parts, in a kind of depressingly comical way, but overall it's not the kind of show for me. I tend to stay away from really raunchy shows unless they're absolutely hilarious to me, at which point I kind of sell my soul to the devil (figuratively speaking). An example would be Family Guy. I love that show, I can't get enough of it! In fact, the DVD's of the show sold so well after FOX canned it that they're now in the process of making new ones, and it's been quite some time since it first got cancelled.

Erm, got a little off topic there...
Anyways, that's my post. Nothing more to see here. :P

I thought we were being asked if it was any good, so the posters from the UK would know if it's any good.

The only people I know, that care for the show, are women( the show's similar to a soap-opera, in the fact it switches from one story to another ). :P

That, and added into the fact. that it's not too popular where I live( but I understand it is quite popular, in the US ), probably due to the subjects often involved in the episodes(see Cat's post).

I COULD go into detail... but you were trying to avoid being PMed. ;-D

In other words, if the subject of many of the episodes doesn't bother  you, you'll probably like it. :-\

Drunken Chinchilla

OMG quick note, NO SPOILERS! :D

And (from the first episode at least) sex is just part of the show, just like its part of life. It definately does have that 6 Feet Under Feel although as Say's said its not quite as dark which could be a good thing I guess, it did get a bit heavy in the 3rd and 4th season...

Anyway ta for the comments, ill make sure to watch this next week too, should be some decent TV even though Big Brother has once again taken over C4 heh.

Yonkey

I saw a couple episodes of it and it's a pretty good show.  ;D The plotlines are insane, but it's kind of refreshing to find a show where you can't really predict what will happen next. :P
