Were you pleased by what you read in the Journal's report? Is there anything else you would like to know? Let me know now, cause I can answer more questions now than what I could before we unwrapped this!

Maybe because I missed the chat...but I guess the three parts confuse me. I mean, we play Part One and then have to wait how long for the next part to come out? I guess this is a two-fold question then. Do we have to wait? And how long?

Right now, the plan is to have one Part each year, but once Part 1 is completed, a lot of things will have been completed as well, which may mean other parts could come out earlier.

For example, in Programming, once the Save/Load function is done for Part 1, it's done for the whole game (because the same functionality is used in all three parts).  We'll be moving from coding things initially from scratch, to scripting things already created.  Scripting is much easier than coding because the design and general implementation has already been completed.  Essentially, you're just "filling in" the details.

Art-wise, we've already started design on Part 2 months ago. :P

It's hard to believe we'll have to wait so long. But I will agree with everyone else who's commented about it...I'd rather have it come out in three parts than to wait another two or three years for the full game to be released.

lol, yes.  I was mostly talking Programming-wise though. :P

Art-wise there's very little reuse between Part 1 and 2, apart from main characters, and even then they may have different costumes (3D models & textures) than Part 1.

But, some generalized things could be.  For example, the basic character rig (which defines things like walking animations) can be used for any animated character as a basis, and is then customized further for the specific character if necessary.  So, an NPC villager from Part 1 could definitely have the same rig as some other or possibly hundreds of NPC's in Parts 2 and 3, who may not even be villagers.  :)

Yeah, no kidding, so are there going to be any scenes with a crowd of people? Or just a few at a time?

And I really enjoyed the entry. :) I know after that eternal "Progress???" topic a lot of people were really curious to know what was going on behind the scenes, and this helped a LOT, IMO.

Can't wait 'til winter! ^_^

Thanks for the update! Could we just skip fall this year and go straight into winter? ::)
All that is gold does not glitter
Not all who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not touched by the frost

From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king
