Hey I'm new to the forums by I've been visiting the site for awhile now and I was just wondering if there will be any demos soon for all of us who just can't wait any longer to play the game.

FAQ_Will there be a downloadable demo?

The time has not yet come. ;-D

Personally I couldn't care less if a demo is released or not, I would rather take on the game in its full glory rather than fighting my way through one chapter, only to suddenly run out of story!
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

Depends on what you mean by "demo" and "soon". :P  Since those two words are subjective, I'll say neither yes or no -- maybe. :suffer:

Sure, "soon" is subjective, but I don't see what's so subjective about "demo" - it's very objectively defined in the FAQ as "a standalone version of a game chapter" ;)

As for the possibility of a demo, allow me to quote myself:

I'm saying they would release a demo.
It's just a big hoax a la AGDI - a brilliant PR stunt:
First, they'll say there won't be a demo, then they'll shut down the site, leaving only a message that says the project has been cancelled (due to technical difficulties, lack of time & ambition, an unfavorable alignment of the stars etc.), but leave the forum open without posting any explanation and laugh at the confused reaction of the fans.
After a couple of days, they'll put the site back up again, still not giving an explanation BUT with a new Flash banner & an announcement saying that a demo would be released soon.
THEN, they'll say the whole demo thing was a hoax, there isn't a demo, never was and never will be, and send everyone the demo by e-mail. When the first people to recive and play the demo post excitedly in the forum and tell everyone about it, the team would take the demo download page offline, deny everything and call them liars.
ONLY after they finish laughing their a$$ off, they'll finally come clean, tell everyone about it and put up the demo on their site.
It's a brilliant plan!! people will be talking about this for months, if not years  ;P

Of course, all this will be done on April 1st... just wait a year and you'll see :suffer:

Thanks for the welcome, Storm. That's an interesting idea, but I don't know if I would even bother going back to the site if I heard the project was cancelled, unless I really liked the forum there. Forums can almost become addictive sometimes. I'm sure some of you may agree. ;)

I'm not sure who wrote that or when it was written, but the demo won't be one chapter of the game.  It firstly would be way too large to download, and secondly it would spoil too much.  We haven't really decided exactly on what the demo will contain yet or if there will even be a public one, but I know for sure it won't be a chapter.

Thanks for crushing my dreams :(
You really have to catch that rogue webmaster who goes around spreading those blatant lies and giving people false hopes :P

But yeah, I guess releasing a whole chapter as a demo would be too much of a spoiler (and quite frustrating if the game isn't released very soon after) ::)

We won't have to wait long for the game itself.... only 6 more months... ;)

If your going to do a demo of a chapter why do it? There are only 3 chapters in the whole game so basically it'd be releasing the first part early  ;). Unless of course there are subchapters but i got the impression that there would be 3 chapters that would be downloaded sepretly. (i can't spell)

IIRC, there are 3 parts of the game, and each game has 3 chapters. But the more I think about it, I think I remember something like the 3rd chapter is split between parts 1 and 2 and 2 is longer and...Well, the point is, the chapters are a section of the 3 main parts of the game.

Although it would probably be entirely too much work, I think it would be cool to have a demo that was based on the events preceding KQIX.

For example you could play as Alexander in the trial of the vizier, acting as the lawyer presenting evidence to the judges. It wouldn't be too hard, but would be exemplary in showing the game mechanics, background story, and graphics.

Yonkey

Rosella's correct.  The game is divided into three parts, and each part contains three chapters. Also, if we release a demo, it won't be of a full chapter but more likely a small part of one.  8)

Liam's suggestion sounds nice, but it would actually be much more work to develop (that's basically a MoE 1/2).  And who knows, maybe after KQIX is released some other fan group will even want to make an inbetween game like MoE 1/2.
