Moved poll to We're in Haven, and I'm not entirely sure that the topic of this poll is alright. But for now, let's see what happens. But as I always say, the opinion of graphics tend to wary from person to person as it's more than just the overall 'level' of the graphics, but also the style, which is becoming more and more individual for each game as the technology improves. I'd definitely have to say that the graphics in King's Quest 9 have far surpassed what I had expected, and really raised my interest in the project. Not that graphics count, or that I weren't already interested, but you know.. it's the dot above the i

I'd say the team's graphics already use modern technology (3D cards created in the past 4-6 years) and in my opinion, they're already the best graphics I've ever seen, for a non-profit indie development team.  

If the game were to use the latest technology & graphics out there, it would require much more resources, time and money.  But, since you asked a good question, I'll answer it:

Assuming the team size stays the same and productivity maintained its current rate, I'd say instead of Part 1 being released in December, it would probably take an additional 1-2 years; depending on how realistic we want the game to look and the amount of knowledge/experience the team has.

I love the KQIX graphics, they are so cool and pretty too, I like the shading and shadowing used. They make MOE look like trash, which it is.  I am so eager to play the game. I should work on more KQ fanart and see if I can improve my drawing of the characters. I'll never be as good as the KQIX artists though.
