Okay, I had a question about the KQ2 Remake by ADG/Tierra. This is specifically about the ending so it contains spoilers. If you don't want the ending ruined don't read anymore!

Okay, at the end of the game, Graham duels Gervain and he (Gervain) turns into the evil-looking guy and curses Graham's family. But just who exactly is he? I never figured it out, so I figured somebody around here would probably now. Can anybody give me an answer?

MATTANDALEX

i think your best chance to find out would be to go over there to find out thinking they made the game but my guess is that he was just some random bad guy or maybe just a way to explane all the bad thing that happen to the family :stabs:

I'm not quite sure but I thought that he was 'the Father' Hagatha had been contacting throughout the game. I'm not sure though. I agree with MATTANDALEX:  maybe just a way to explane all the bad thing that happen to the family

I would like to tell you but I having problems getting the trident from the Sharkee throne room so when I have completed that I will tell you.
:)

Prince Alex

I figured that he was the "father" that Hagatha was talking to, but I'm still interested in who he is. I think I will try asking over on AGD's boards. As to getting the trident, there's a screenshot on the AGD website that shows how to get it.

Uh, I don't remember any of this...is it like...a video after you beat the game?  ???

So righteous in our blood.
It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing,
Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

Gervain IS the Father. Graham says so himself. :P
KQ2+ never says outright who The Father is, but there are several hints in the game suggesting he's really Morgeilen, the presumed-dead brother of Legenimor, the first king of Daventry. You can read about them in the books at the Kolyma library.
Of course, this is King's Quest history according to KQ2+ only, and doesn't appear in any of the original games.

As far as I know, Storm pretty much hit the nail on the head.

A lot of who The Father is remains unrevealed at the end of KQ2. He does, however, forecast the difficulties that will befall the family in the rest of the KQ series. I reckon that AGDI (formerly Tierra Entertainment) is just trying to explain how the series relates to itself, and how it ties together--much like KQ9 is now attempting to create a conclusionary story to bring together all the currently disjointed parts.

The difference is that KQ9 attempts to bring it altogether retroactively, whereas AGDI is attempting to rewrite the series from the ground up to explain how these stories relate to one another.

KingGraham

My only question is, why would Tierra add in The Father (although the idea is REALLY cool) to the story when it has no relevance to the rest of the King's Quest games? If it had been in one of the other ones in the series, such as their KQ1 VGA, I could see their point.  :-\

Storm

Why? you said it - the idea is REALLY cool ;)
They probably did it because it makes a good story - some uber-villian which ties up and gives a 'deeper' meaning  to characters/events in the other games. It seems to be a popular approach 8)

Again, I find myself in agreement with Storm. :)

That, and I don't think that they were planning on it in KQ1. When they designed KQ1, I think they were trying to remain loyal to the original plot. When they got to KQ2, however, they found themselves without a plot. KQ2 has previously been described as the King's Quest that just doesn't have a storyline (second only to Mask of Eternity in that regard); you just go around collecting treasure and running into random fairy tales along the way.

When AGDI (previously Tierra) designed KQ2+ (yes, they call it KQ2+ because, while it has a lot KQ2 elements, a lot of the game is also originally designed by AGDI), they ended up having to write a plot as well as redesigning a classic game. Part of the plot they wrote involved The Father.

Still, that would mean that he's at least three generations old and vertainly not fit to fight a young and valiant former knight

Actually, it would mean he's much much older than that... but he seems to be a more than just a mere mortal, so age doesn't bother him so much :-\

That's cool, i was wondering who the father was suposed to be.
BTW what's up with that part where Graham has three tasks?
I've never played MOE so I was wondering if it has anything to to do with that...
