Well, if it's common for non-Americans to say it(the only other people I know of that use it, do so because it confuses them less when learning English), the word  has spread farther than I thought.

Yeah but we sound nothing like the British , and I'm the only one out of my friends that gets mistaken for one

Like some of the others here, I have been mistaken for being English. When I was in Middle School I was very shy and talked softly and a lot of people mistook me for being English. My dad said the Southern accent of Southeners in the USA is based on the English accent, because a lot of the southern plantation owners were descended from the Brittish. My dad looked up our last name on the internet and found that besides being English, it is Scottish and Northern Irish as well. My mom is from Georgia, she moved to North Florida as a child, I think her ancestors are Irish and Dutch.

Not deliberatly, but it's a nice 'byproduct'.
If I really was trying to raise my post-count, I'd do triple-postings.
