I must admit that I'm a fan of Blizzard as well, though I haven't had the pleasure of playing WoW yet.

Perhaps we could convince Blizzard to turn on Vivendi and join us in planning their downfall. :D

Hi ! I'm that "SierraFan" 'Guest' that wrote a few pages back... I just felt I had to register to show some support to KQIX....

The truth is that I really am outraged about all this... Sierra Online used to be such a great gaming studio... I'm kinda mad at you, Ken Williams  ;) ... You and Roberta made such great and wonderfull adventure games ; I played every King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suite Larry and Gabriel Knight series... YOU REALLY SHOULD NOT HAVE SOLD Sierra. I miss so much those great series and wish at least a last episode for each of them (SWAT has NOTHING to do with Police Quest, Mask Of Eternity has NOTHING to do with King's Quest and Magna Cum Laude has NOTHING to do with Leisure Suite Larry). They all need a final episode...

And adeventure gaming style MUST live on... I am ready to donate to any company willing to make a living of adventure games...

Last night I was thinking... Why do we all whine about Vivendi... They bought everythin and have money... But we all, the fans united, also have a bit of money... Why can't we organize in a great society/company in order to build a great adventure gaming company...
I mean... POS could be head programers (and actually get paid for what they do), they could actually employ new programers, if there is any lawyer among us, he could get paid from donations too... we could say... I dont know... Each of us donates about 50US per month... I am confident there would be enough money to make a living of. Then this 'new company' could sell its game (cheap) and so on...

WE CAN DO WHATEVER WE WANT... WE JUST NEED TO ORGANIZE.

Count on me.
Let's save KQIX and revive adventure gaming !

What the heck are you talkin' about, woman? I dont know anything about curses... Im a curse-free guy.

but... if I DID know something about it, be sure I'd give VU one.

I would be more than happy to put The Father's curse on the head of Vivendi.

SWAT has NOTHING to do with Police Quest

The first SWAT was in 1995, before Ken Williams sold the company. I saw it as being a spinoff of the traditional Police Quest series rather than being a part of the series itself.
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

This just in:

Vivendi Universal has just discovered indoor plumbing and electricity.
They've bought out the rights, and are preparing to shut them down.

have you guys read this? :P

http://forums.vugames.com/thread.jspa?threadID=6647&tstart=0

They seem stressed and fed up about it.

PERSONALLY, I think it's a lot of -crap- , not what the mod said, but what she said, the whole "Vivendi representatives recently explained they chose to shut down the fan project of KQIX now because they just learned of it. Had they known about it several years ago when it began production, it probably would have been shut down at that point." it's nothing more than just they trying to get rid of the whole madness and mess, because you, the fans are driving them insane, it might be a tiny percentage, but apparently enough to get the mods from their forums to jump out the window or something. And being part of the company, I bet they sure comment on that "those damn KQIX groupies! " :P

Whatever they say, I don't believe them at the moment (VIVENDI) the mods have been somehow "nice" about this whole deal, and I appreciate they made an annoucement about it, I dont think it'd make the fans stops but hey ;P

I seriously believe VU simply does not care at all, they just shut the team down 'cause they can, and it was just the thing to do. Nothing less, nothing more, IMHO.

After reading the VU tread, Since they don't allow fan games discussion, I personally believe they don't want developing game according to fan wishes. Perhalps, we should bring them into account!

That's probably what she has been told, but we both know that isn't 100% true.

What do you mean part of the company? The moderators at the Sierra forums are non-paid volunteers and long-time fans of the classics who all used to be normal members, but were offered moderator status because they were mature and contributing posters and they accepted that responsibility because they wanted to help out at the community they were already part of for years. None of them made the rule about not discussing fan-games, it's been put in place by the administration well around 2000/2001 and they're just expected to enforce it. In all honesty, if I were to moderate a forum in my free time and some guy registered and did nothing but re-post locked threads and hurl profanity at me personally, I'd kick the jackass off the board as well.

This from a guy that helped many people get KQ5/KQ6 to work on XP... what's the world coming too.. If only Vivendi  would see my video. *sigh*

So post a link on the VU forum. I'm upset about 'I wish that these "KQ9" trolls would realize that they are cutting off their noses to spite their faces. ' aswell. They don't know how much work went into this! They don't know how we almost finished it! I'll bet they never even came to this site! Anyway, I'm still boycotting VU and everything VU-related.

From various comments here, I can easily see that most people here haven't been there before either. Most people there probably DO know a lot of work went into it. Most people there did know about the project before a few weeks ago as well. But since most of them probably don't post here, all they see of the KQ9 fanbase is what you show them there.

Analogy...I live in the Netherlands and my cousin in Arizona for some reason got fired at the McDonalds he works at for unjust reasons. I adopt his vision that McDonalds is the anti-christ and in addition to boycotting the franchise in general, I go over to my local McDonalds and toss a brick through the window before I start mouthing off the employees behind the counter there. After my forced exit there, I find myself wondering why the employees were so upset with me and why the customers couldn't symphatise with me. I was, after all, on a quest for justice and my motive was empathy, but everybody there thought I just had issues. Can't they see those employees were on McDonald's payroll, hence they're part of the company and thus in league with them?

Conclusion: I read the KQ9-related discussions there from the beginning and the mods didn't ban the discussions outright, until enough bad apples emerged to justify putting a lid on the situation.

Thessalona

I wonder if Vivendi would be interested in purchasing KQIX from the team so that all of the efforts would not be lost?  Seems like a worthy project such as this has the potential for a win-win....

Orrrrr...your cousin didn't do his/her job very well and got fired for being lazy and ineffective (at McDonald's nontheless).  It seems you're not a very rational person.  How exactly do you equate the McDonald's staff in Netherlands to the one in Arizona?  I'm sure they all have a big online chat every night after work to see which franchise caused the most harm and disturbance, and then plot to do something more devious.

You have the entire situation backwards.  WE are the company...the mods at VU are the ones throwing bricks at the franchise (individual KQIX supporters).  Clearly, like you, they're not being very rational either.  Perhaps you should go throw a brick through VU's window.

Erpy,

Regardless of their current status (paid or not paid or whatnot) they're OBVIOUSLY closer to VU than us, which means, they might be hired as free volunteers blah blah blah, but certainly they're a lot more involved or in touch or connected to people in that area than us, which was my point, they sure comment about it between them, as well as one of them might just comment about that to others probably in the company, and so it goes (Note I never said the CEO or any shareholder or whatever). I never said they put the rule as convenient, I'm saying all they said (which is what they get told) is just a bunch of "whatever sounds about right" for now.

And I still believe they're probably going crazy by now, because right after they posted that someone else opened another thread about it :P I seriously don't believe they (the mods) could stop it all together (fans posting about it) right away, so it seems, so I truly wish them the best lol :P

I can sense the imminent downfall of the VU forums.  Any day now, one of the mods is going to snap and take the server down with a shotgun.
