So my info was a little wrong. It gets confusing... But still... I do believe the game will come out, and that VU will approve it, but I wouldn't know for sure... But either way, I'm excited!

I have no reason to believe that TSL won't be released, though I suspect that Vivendi might want PO to make a few changes after reviewing it.  Why would they grant a fan license if they're going to shut down the project permanently?

I know you know as much as the rest of us, but what do you think they'll make POS change? Just speculation, anyway.

If (and that's a big "if") they change anything, it may just be a small detail.  I don't see VU trying to drastically change the plot or anything like that.  Of course, what do I know?

Hey, I LOVE King's Quest and i'm sooooooo excited about KQIX! I can't wait for it to come out! And i'm also so excited about the remake of KQIII that infamous adventures is making! I hope they both come out soon! Anyway, I have a couple of questions, a) Is there any chance that Dink will appear in KQIX? Or his infamous friend Sam? and b) I know it's a little off topic, but I was wondering if anyone knows when the Kings Quest Compilation is coming out? Amazon.com said next December but other websites said later this week! Thanks.

Theoretically, the compilations are coming out in December. Logically, they're never coming out. :P More info on the compilations is here.

Just to clarify... No one in the POS team knows anymore than anyone about these collections. Personally, I'm getting more confused with every delay. :D

I think VU just wants to torture us. And they're pretty good at it, if you ask me! And I'm going to try to stay on topic, despite how hard it is.

Lets face it folks, well never see this game being made.  The game won't ever be released.  Vivendi should have just continued its shutdown of the game a long time ago.  I am just sad that I'm not waiting any longer for a game that isn't even done yet!  I am just frustrated tonight all.  Don't take it personally!

I'm more than sure it's going to be released. With all the publicity it's getting, it would be mere stupidity, for VU not to release it.

Diddo. My thoughts exactly! They wouldn't let this game die because of all the publicity it's gotten. Not to mention the fans it has!

*arrests AAAP* ::)

Anyways, I'm 100% confident that TSL WILL be released. They have a LOT of work done, and they have a solid plan to get the rest of the game finished.

What could possibly stop POS from finishing the project?  Its survived the C&D situation with Vivendi.  Besides maybe this: http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?topic=3562.0

Is there an update on the release date of the silver lining following the great news that the project is still alive?

Guys,

have you played the KQ1 & 2 & 3 & 4 series?

Honeslty don't you find those are the best ones? The ones where you don't use the mouse at all...
I've always been a huge fan of those games, the keyboard ones, (PQ/SQ/KQ/Larry), but I haven't done any of the mouse-click ones.

Not the same feeling at all.

Anybody else agrees? or has the same feeling...

I think they should do it the old way again, I'm sure lot of people would appreciate.

anyway, just my 2 cents

They were good, but definitely not the best.  They're more challenging than point & click, but if you don't word a phrase or item correctly, you're out of luck.  There's also a lot of unneeded redundancy like "open door", "talk man", "look" when with point & click you can just click the Hand cursor on a door, Talk on a character, and Eye cursor on anything.  In other words, point & click allows you to explore a lot more with much less effort than text-based.

If you can, you should really try out KQ5 or KQ6 and you'll see what I mean. :)  Or, you can just wait for TSL to come out. ;)

yeah I've tried them as well.... the point&click larry & police quests too... but I don't get addicted to them at all...   :-\

Probably a matter of habits.
I'd dream for another text stuff.
They should then combine and let you choose how you want to play in the game options (lol, that sounds a bit wierd, but I'd love that, seriously)

true about that redundancy... but trust me, it takes me the same time to type 'open door' than to click on my mouse (funny you mention that one, it's really THE sentence I type the fastest on my keyboard, thanks to those games lol.... it even turned into a competition between friends)

but to me, there was more interaction with the keyboard... and indeed you had to find the right way of saying things, I found that funny (well, sometimes really pissed as hell, when you spent 6 years on KQ3 and don't manage to finish it, it's quite frustrating!!  ::)) ....

anyway, ...
errrmmm... how does the game react if you don't have a mouse at all?  ;D ;D will it switch to 'keyboard mode'  :P ;D
