As a result of the agreement, the game will lose its "King's Quest" moniker but will otherwise be unchanged, still featuring the series' characters. The game will now be released in 2006.

Obviously a lot of people were wondering about this, so I thought I'd quote it from the MTV article.

Guys, I would like to take this moment to thank you ALL for the wonderful support you have given us throughout this whole situation! I could go on and on about this but it's hard to express in words... I'll just tell you that I'm convinced that without your efforts to help us save this project, we would not have been granted this license! So thank you for saving hours and hours of work and giving us a chance to eventually hand the fruits of it all over to you!

But I'd also like to thank the people of VU Games that we have been in touch with. Contrary to popular belief when it comes to these sorts of things, they were very nice to us all the way through this. They are serious about protecting their trademarks, as all well-managed companies are, but this wasn't like a big business deal with a lot of money involved. However, they took notice of the public reactions and decided that it was a good idea to negotiate a deal with us to sort out this thing. In the end we got to keep it all, except for the old title, and quite frankly under the circumstances that doesn't really matter at all, does it?

What a nice Christmas present for us all, fans and developers alike! Now I'm just starting to freak out about how much we owe you guys in terms of delivering the best fangame ever!

Hi all, I'm a guest but I've been checking in on this project for awhile and I'm glad to see that you guys will get to finish it!  I have a question about the KQ Compilation that is supposedly coming out and I was wondering if any of you guys know the answer.  Amazon.com said that it was being released January 30, but now it is saying March 30.  However Walmart.com says that you can get it as early as Dec. 16.  Other sites I saw gave release dates in late December.  Does anyone know the real story on this?  None of the sites seem to have detailed information about this product aside from "King's Quest Compilation for Windows XP" and prices.  I'm hesitant to pre-order something with no extensive information or artwork.
Thanks for your help and I apologize if this is a nuisance.

Congratulations. That's very positive news indeed. I assume the name change is in order to avoid confusion with official use of the trademark "King's Quest". I have a hunch the agreement you got to is not completely unlike ours, which may include the promise to keep a fair part of it confidential. But I'll still give it a try...anything you can share about the exact nature and obligations/ownership clauses of your agreement?
