Alright, everyone's got something to say so, I'll do my best to reply to you all, here goes.

QuoteI saw the article yesterday with some updated photos.  Does this website have any more video clips from the trailer by chance?
We haven't updated the website just yet, we're still working on it. So far whatever you can sneak-peek on the interviews, just go for it. We will incorporate those eventually.

QuoteIf so can anyone tell me if the trailer is still around or is there an updated one coming soon?  I am really eager for this game.
Yes, the trailer is here -> KQIX Trailers

QuoteI am so excited that you all won and Vivendi finally came to their senses and realized they missed out on creating one of the coolest games in the world!
Thank you :)

Interesting quote from the Gamespy article:

"the company reserves the right to bring the game in-house if they feel there are commercial possibilities for it"

Are you able to elaborate on this at all? Does this mean that you would complete the game and have Vivendi sell it commercially (which I certainly wouldn't object to), or that Vivendi might take the game and complete it themselves (which I'm very uneasy about)?
Interesting question, Tribe. We all read the same as you did, all I can tell you is that Allen spoke to Marcus about this (he requested the contact info and we provided it) and, it's quite nice to know how they feel about us, maybe they do have quite a positive good feelings about POS, after all. Do keep in mind, we're still in legal discussions as it goes, we just got permission to say to the world what happened, but it's still not over, so we just can't say at the moment.

Stan

QuoteWhen will the journal be updated to reflect the fact that the game is now continuing?  Also, I hope this game will run on Windows 98.
Asn soon as we have the oportunity for it, don't worry we will.

Thanks everyone else for the sweet comments :)

I think it's Graham in part one, and Rosella and Alexander in part 2. In part 3...All 3 of them?

Where did that info come from? :o :S
As I was lead to believe, each part of the trilogy is divided into 3 chapters (the whole game has 9 chapters), and you don't play the same character in all of 3 those. Besides, a voice clip of Alex and Sarah was released, so it probably means you get to play Alex in the first part as well :-\

Just a little note on compabilty...

Being just a fan project, we are far from the technology level of commercial games currently in development for the latest platforms, but we do our best. Currently our game doesn't use hardware shaders for instance, but it's certainly not impossible that parts 2 and 3 will push it up a notch. It's all too early to say, but already I would answer questions such as "will it run on Windows 98" with a "do not set your hopes up high for that". If you still have a below 1GHz PC with a graphics card several years old and still run Windows 98 or something like that, you can probably not even run the Torque demo. Torque isn't exactly the fastest thing around but we're doing our best to make the game as compatible to everyone's hardware as possible. Keep in mind though that we don't have the time and resources to test for compability as commercial companies. I hope not too many of you will have problems but if you have an old PC and really want to be able to play our game at its best, I hope you have the chance to upgrade your system in 2006. Maybe a TSL-capable PC would be something to ask Santa for? ;)

I remember the 3 chapters per section, but I'm pretty sure you only play Graham in the first section...Er, help? XD

I've got a 400Mhz PC with a 32Mb graphics card, running Windows 98. The Torque demo runs just fine on it :)

I think it was announced as part of the Anniversary chat/announcement. I always assumed the Alexander/Sarah sound clip was part of a cutscene not involving the playable character at that time. In fact, the Graham/Edgar clip is probably also a cutscene, given that we hear Edgar's internal monologue.

Well if that isn't an eardrum-piercing cry for an upgrade, then I don't know what is.  They've decided to scrap the project and start over using the Doom 3 engine.  That's right...nothing less than 1GB of DDRAM with a 3.4 GHz P4 D-Chipset and nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card will do.
It's peanut butter jelly time!

It amuses me that with computers you are always expected to spend money to upgrade or replace them every few years even if they still work fine for your purposes.

Cez

let me clear up some things here.

Rosella is right, you get to play Graham in part 1, Alexander and Rosella in part 2 and all three of them in part 3.

The clip from Alexander/Sarah is actually from "The Two that are One". Yes, like we've said before, we are focused on part 1, but have been doing a lot of work on parts 2 and 3 as well.

Whoa, that's unexpected... GarageGames lists a PIII 500 MHz with 128 MB RAM as a minimum requirement. I've had problems with a faster system than that. I should mention that TSL will probably be a bit more system-demanding than a stock Torque game, but not a lot. I agree with Stan's comment about system upgrades, but in this case the purpose would be to play the game, so it's at least fair to tell you what to expect. :)

Matt Vassar

Kind friends on the KQIX team,

I'm a longtime visitor (since late 2002?) of this site, but a firsttime poster. Up until the project got (temporarily) canned, I didn't really feel like I had much to contribute, but I hope you know that I was always supportive of your efforts, albeit silently. When I read of the Cease and Desist order several weeks back, I meant to post a quick note of thanks and encouragement for all the work that the staff has put in. Unfortunately, life being what it is, I never got a chance to post that note; for that, I sincerly apologize. (I did, however, take the time to write Vivendi a lengthy note explaining my feelings regarding the C&D)

Now that you've weathered the storm, though, it seems that the C&D has become the second-best* thing to happen to the KQIX project. All the publicity it has received as a result is phenomenal. I've read numerous posters saying that they never knew this existed until after all the Internet media coverage of your success against the C&D. While support of the project has always been ever-increasing, there seems to be a surge in increased support post-C&D.

* Yes, I said that the C&D was the second-best thing to happen to the KQIX project. The best thing has, and always will be, its dedicated team.

This comes largely as a result of your tireless efforts--not just to design the game, but to interact with the fans and the corporate executives of Vivendi. The reason for your success is because you've never settled for mediocrity, but have always gone far beyond the call of duty. You have a solid fan base because you genuinely care about them, and they want to see the success of your project. You prevailed with Vivendi when they realized your game wasn't just a lackluster portrayal of the King's Quest Series, but a work of beauty unto itself.

I think I speak for all of the fans when I say that King's Quest has touched us in an indescribable--but profound--way. My first adventure game was not King's Quest, but rather The Black Cauldron (also created by Sierra). I played the game everyday as a child with my parents until we beat it. But, what's more, I was so moved by the storyline (as a very young boy) that I cried when Gurgi sacrificed his life to prevent the destruction of the world.

Before you make fun of me for my tears, I beg you to consider your own experiences with King's Quest and adventure gaming in general. The storyline and lessons taught by the King's Quest series were always poignant. A lot of who I am today was shaped by the lessons in the game during my childhood and adolescense. It instilled in me a belief that any task is solveable--with the proper amount of effort and perseverance, and even cleverness. Furthermore, the philosophy of love embedded in the game was often touching, and continues to touch me in everyday life.

You see, it's not just a game, no matter what outsiders may say of it. It has shaped my life in a profound way, as it has many other users on this site. And your continued efforts to revive the game have always left me in awe.

In the MTV article posted earlier in this thread, César was asked if he regretted all the sleepless nights he endured for the project, only to have a C&D order slapped on him. His response was, "I don't complain. I love this. I would do it a thousand times." Your willingness to bring this to the community, even in light of everything that occurred, is admirable.

Thank you. And may The Silver Lining always prevail.

I doubt anyone here would make fun of your tears, Matt. Though I've never shown it as you have, there have definitely been moments in Sierra games that have moved me deeply, such as Toby's sacrifice in Quest For Glory IV - Shadows of Darkness, Edgar sliding the rose (and key) under Rosella's foor in King's Quest IV - The Perils of Rosella and the announcement of Jack's daughter's death in Police Quest I - In Search of the Death Angel

Yeah, the announcment about her being in ICU really killed me. As did QFG4, not only Toby, but Katrina aswell, when she sacrifices herself for the hero. I've played BC before and never experienced Gurgy's dieing, but rather I pushed the Horned King into the cauldron himself....

I thought that it was 3 chapters in each game with a different character for each chapter.

IMO, the Edgar/Graham clip might be a cutscene, but the Alex/Sarah one sounds like a dialogue :-\

From Cesar in the birthday chat:

QuotePart 1 focuses on Graham's adventure as a Dark Enchantment befalls the lands of the Green Isles in the middle of a big celebration...Part 2 follows Alexander and Rosella as they search for a mysterious prophecy they seem to be part of...and part three brings the three characters together.
