I have no idea if I'm in the right place, but me and my friend are trying to make an adventure game ourselves, and really need some help. We already have a basic  story down, but have no idea how to do 3D. (if anyone at POS wants to hear our game idea, and contemplate it for their next project, just PM me). We're attempting to use Gmax, and need help. If anyone here is good with 3D, then please tell us. Our game idea is, in our opinion, a very good one, but I won't tell anyone here unless they work with POS. (but we really do need help. I think our idea might be worth a shot for POS to think about. Once you finish The Silver Lining, or start a new project, and need an idea, I have one that you all may be  interested in.)

Thanks for anyone who can help, and an extra thanks to anyone at POS willing to help/hear our idea.

Hey there my friend,

Well... I shouldn't even SAY this right now cuz it might be a bit of a spoiler but, POS is currently heading towards working solid on Silver Lining, as it is, once we got the C&D letter we first did our proper dwelling on it :-S but things turned out to be just fine for us, meanwhile, while we were in limbo-mode, we did discuss sort of like "alright, what the heck now?!" and so far, the plans do not aim to another game any moment soon, Silver Lining is top priority and to be honest that's what everyone is sort of getting back into. Next year, I believe we will reconsider the idea of the new POS project, we do have some possible ideas around, yet nothing is official just yet.

As a voice of the POS, I'm flattered you and your friend would place us in such exclusive position to say that you'd love to work with us and let alone pitch an idea to us, it's truly flattering! but, I do know perfectly the situation inside the team, and now that we got a "Go for it" from VU, all we want is to get the legal paperwork over with and get started back into full production with Silver Lining, that's the only thing for sure for now :).

Maybe if you wanted it to be a more classic feel you could just use 3D. I am currently making an Adventure Game with "The Games Factory" and am using paint to draw the graphics.

Hmmm, here is some advice;

Do not even bother to try and build your own game engine...well...not if you want a world-beater, it will cost you a bomb!

Reason is that for my own KQ IX project, we are constructing a game engine from scratch, me and at least 10 other engineers have been pouring over it for the past two years and we have spent some quite serious (in our opinion!) cash to get the damn thing to work. In the end, the latest advances in freeware engines meant that with enough clever tweaking and reverse engineering, all completely illegal, we could have got what we wanted for half the time/grief! We are only carrying it on now to beat the legal issues, and for pride!

Doubt you are considering that route but...hell....advice is advice no matter how useless!

As for GMAX, I use it on a basic level to construct Flight Simulator models but to be honest they are not that hot! Have to rely upon one of my people at a later date! I will say that GMAX is not the most "User-friendly" 3D modelling system, will take a look for nicer packages later! Would you ever consider doing ultra-high quality animation for  3D feel; that is what I am doing for now until the engine is built and I must say it brings a "warm, cosy" feel to the game that 3D never quite gives. However, this consumes time like no other!

I know none of that is of any use, but as the yanks say "that is my two cents..."  :)
When cities burn and armies turn,
and flee in disarray,
Cowards will cry 'tis best to fly
and fight another day.
But warriors know it in their marrow when they die and fall,
It is better to have fought and lost than not have fought at all.

Well if you are still looking for help, I could do some texturing for your models. You'll just need a modeler though :P

Don't kick me for asking this, but isn't building your own engine from scratch to avoid legal issues a bit redundant when you're going to title it 'KQIX'? :-\
