Hi

Were there ever any points within the King's Quest series that scared you or startled you or just plain creeped you out? For me, KQ4 in general held this generally creepy/spooky aura and still does...Wandering around that gloomy, empty countryside, it was all sort of creepy. And sometimes my sound would mess up and I'd get this eerie humming sound like the sounds in suspense or supernatural movies. Don't know if anyone else felt the same vibe from KQ4...Also, whenever the blue henchmen in KQ5 comes out with the music that accompanies him, it always makes me jump...What about the rest of you?

Jafar

KQ4 had alot of those moments...the cave with the Troll, the Ogre's house, the zombies, and Lollotte's castle. Mordack's castle was creepy too, but I don't think the Land of the Dead is that bad unless you get that one unique death...*shudders*

Touch the Lord of the Dead, don't challenge the Lord of the Dead, or screw up when you challenge the Lord of the Dead. Not reccomended for the faint of heart. :P

Oh. Is that KQ6? The death messages were hilarious in that game!

Yeah, though a few deaths weren't like the others...Unique Deaths, I call them. (Though technically you only die in one of them)

... I'd love to see a collection of these deaths in a continuous trailer at the movies...  ::)

For me it was the toll's cave.

Toll's cave... I don't seem to remember that... Then again, it's been about ten full years since I've actually played KQ4 for real. Which means I was 4 years old...

I really disliked those random things that jump out at you and steal your inventory in KQ1 & 2. :P

Mordack's Castle was probably the creepiest part of KQ5 for me, the forest was pretty creepy too.

In KQ6, it had to be the Realm of the Dead with those random souls that want to hug you. ;P

KQ7 had a few creepy points in Ooga Booga Land, but in general, they weren't that bad. XD

I hated anything that sprung out at you randomly. The things that chased you in 1 and 2 scared me to death because I was never expecting it. XD Falling into water in 1 and 2 was also scary, because I never could figure out how to swim. :P The Ogre scared me to death, and I remember wanting to have a parent in the room so I could play it, even in broad daylight. XD

The ogre scared me too, even when I only HEARD about him in KQ4.  My friend was playing the game and he told me about this ogre and how he kept dying when he ran in to him around his house.  We were on the phone and I was like "kill him with your sword!"  He replied, "you can't.  you're a princess without any weapons.  Once the ogre sees you, he chases you and grabs you by the hair and drags you off to his stew pot!"  I had never heard of or seen such a horrific thing in a game, so my imagination ran off the deep end of this monstrous ogre dragging a poor girl around by her braids!  So yeah, that's my story  :P  ...maybe that's why I'm such a fan of discovering every last one of Rosella's perils  ???

Deloria

Welcome back Daphne! :D

Ugh...I remember that ogre, he was horrible, almost as bad as the ogress.

When I first started playing KQIII not knowing when Manannan was going to show up always creeped me out.  So not a specific point, but that general sense.  Of course, then you figure out that it's like 15 minute intervals and you can pretty much get everything in two trips and beat the game in like an hour, lol.

So for me, I think it was Mordack's castle that creeped me out the most.  At least in KQVI you could see the things in the Land of the Dead that would kill you--In V you never knew when Mordack or the blue thing would pop up!

Deloria

Actually, it's 25 minute intervals and I don't think you can beat the game in under 1:50 :P
