I wouldn't know, as I have never played it(though I would think the basic information on it would place it firmly into the "bad" category). The precedence was set quite some time ago, but if you wish to(for what reason I do not want to know ;P), you may take it up with Yonkey(either via PM, or e-mail).
I haven't played it, but based on Storm's comments, I have a feeling that discussion based on that game is not appropriate for this forum.  Actually, the fangames that are banned from discussion on our forums include: Quest for Orgy I: So You Want To Be A Pornstar and King's Quest 2 1/4: Breast Intentions.  Believe it or not, those are the actual game titles. ::)  VG was so disgusted with QfO that they actually received a C&D letter. :P

Thanks Yankey, never heard of the first (Thankfully!) and now I’m not interested in playing 2¼.

Nowhere! It's an AGI game ;)

It's not that I mind having my opinion count for something, but you do know I've never played this game, right? my comments were based only on the game's premise (as quoted from the game's site):

QuotePrince Alexander has been kidnapped, and his kidnappers are feeding him infant formula. Alexander is alergic to infant formula, and it is making him ill. Queen Valanice sets out to find Alexander so that she can breast-feed him.

Which seemed to me quite ludicrous, if not downright distasteful. Still, I might give it a shot someday, strictly for science's sake... If I ever managed to get it to run, that is ::)

Oh, actually I meant your comments on QFG 4.5. :P  I actually have no clue about the contents of KQ 2 1/4, but the name and premise do not seem appropriate for our forum.

I am not anti-breastfeeding or anti-mammory glands (;P). It's just fairly obvious that people may be offended by KQ 2 1/4, or link it in some way to political discussion which is not permitted in this forum.  8)

I don't presume to tell you what standards you should use to decide what is appropriate to post on these forums.

However, political overtones can be found even in the official Sierra games.  For example, in QFG1, one gains points for releasing an animal from a trap.  That conveys a very strong political viewpoint.  The livelihood of many people depends on trapping animals, and releasing an animal from a trap deprives those people of their livelihood.  Many people, myself included, can reasonably take offense in that scene.  Regardless of what side you take in this issue, it is clear that a very strong political viewpoint is being conveyed.

So you should be careful to apply your standards evenhandedly.

Alright, I will:

Any further posts that discuss politics directly, indirectly, hypothetically, anecdotally and/or sarcastically will be immediately deleted, without warning.

Let it go Maestro. From what I read up on it I’m not apposed to the game at all; however, from what I read it also doesn’t stay as closely to the KQ style for me to be interested in playing and I agree with Yonkey here that it’s best to nip any potential problems in the bud and not discuss it.
From what I’ve seen here these people are more then happy to tell anybody asking who made it so the questioner can easily search and find it. While I don’t see a problem giving out your web address this forum has decided not to in keeping with their view of the KQ style and I respect that, it is their forum after all.
Be assured Maestro that I do have it saved on my HD and maybe someday I’ll play it but now is not that time because I’m trying to play through all the originals first.  ;D

I was wondering about good Sierra games that have been redone and are appropriate to discuss on these forums.  I have played and beaten the new KQI VGA and KQ2 VGA by Agdinteractive -- plan to play KQIII when the voice pack comes out by infamous adventurers, looking forward to playing SQ7, and QFGII by Agdinteractive.
Are there any others that people suggest that are free and really good.

AFAIK Space quest 0 is legit.  Hopefully, because I can personally testify it is fun.  ;)

Then there are also games that Sierra has released as Freeware, such as Betrayal At Krondor, which is a pretty good RPG. :)

There's a very short Laura Bow one. It all takes place on a bus.

Thanks for the replies.  I shall have to look up the Betrayal at Krondor because I have never played it.

QuoteHugo 1-3 - Only for those of you saying to themselves "I wish they made more AGI games, ones that try to be mysterious like Laura Bow and funny like Monkey Island, but fail miserably"

Those aren't "fan games" and are quite old.

They were made back in the days of shareware and AGI/EGA games, back in the 1990s,  by a private developer. They could be payed for, which would get you latest versions, and hintbook.

The Adventures of Maddog Williams was a similar case, except the shareware demo only went as far as the first village.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

Actually, my list referred to 'fan games' in the broader sense... the sense of "games you don't have to pay for". That's why it included "Mythmaster: A Vagabond's Adventure" which is also shareware, and "Five Magical Amulets" which isn't a fan game since it's completely original 8)

I think I read someplace about someone who made a VGA remake of Hugo 1, and got a Cease & Desist from the original developer, who claimed he was still making money selling the game... maybe writing shareware really pays off? :S
