This concept of 'getting confirmed at a church' is completely unknown to me. Care to elaborate a bit?
Confirmation's one of the 7 holy sacraments in Christianity.

To stick up for my sub-section of Christianity I should add, Catholic Christianity. ;P It's not something Protestants do. :P

PirateKingChris

We get confirmed in Presbyterian chuch, but we don't follow all the Catholic beliefs (She's my half sister, raised Catholic, I was raised by my mother, not Catholic)

Anyway, home for the rest of the weekend now, the little bit that's left :P

Welcome back! XD  And first of 3?  Whoa, does that mean one every weekend? :o

Yeap, except for the first weekend of this month, there's one every weekend XD

Farquhar

Well, even though I said I wasn't officially found, I've managed to pop in a lot more than I had been.... :)

I'm gonna be fully lost again for a little while though, because I leave for my vacation on Wednesday, and won't likely be able to post for a week or two.

See you guys when I get back, or shortly thereafter! :D

:!Oops:  Sorry, Petra's right.  I should have wrote Catholicism there instead.

Have fun Farquhar, and don't forget to post some pics, Cat! XD

Untrue :)

Confirmation is widespread amongst danish Protestants, a vast majority of all teens confirm their faith around the age of 14 here. Quite possibly a relic from our time as a Catholic nation. 8)

According to the Wiki page (and yes, I know Wiki's aren't exactly 100% reliable sources :P but anyway):

"Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox Churches, and Anglicans, view it as a sacrament, which in the East is conferred on infants immediately after baptism, but in the West is usually administered later at the age of reason or in early adolescence."

So maybe I was right originally in saying Christianity then, since some denominations merge it implicitly with baptism and others have it as a separate rite.  Anyway, for those of you that never experienced it, it's sort of feels like... a religious graduation ceremony. :)

I agree, though I was never confirmed. But it's pretty much thought of as a religious graduation here too. :P

Let me rephrase that. It is not seen as one of the sacraments by protestants, not that it is never done. But that may be getting into grounds better left alone. XD And what Yonkey says about merging is talking about Eastern churches, Orthodox, Assyrian etc, not Protestants. :P

PirateKingChris

From what I experienced in the Presbyterian church and now seen in the Catholic church, yeah, it's a religious graduation.

See you when you got some more chance to post then, Farquhar. Remember, your position at the Asylum remains unchanged, unless you were to resign of course. It is not dependant on active time on the forum.
Welcome back, Tess! ;)
Ah, is that called confirmation? I was born a Catholic Christian and even raised as one. Not necessarily one now, since I disagree with quite some things, but I still adhere to its principles.
