Wow!

Other than the problem I had exiting the game (which I posted on the tech forum), I am amazed at the quality of this game.  I can hardly wait for the full thilng to come out.

I just got blown away. So far this game is twice as good than I hoped!

The opening music was so good...I had to turn my speakers on high. It really sucks me into the game, maybe more than anything else so far. It is way beyond anything in I've ever heard in KQ, but it still feels like KQ.

I can't believe how great the game looks. Seeing the entire floor of the main hall being reflective left me in awe. Graham also looked slick in his royal attire (Graham fanboy).

The great interface also stood out. The menus looked cool, yet still felt "clean" and easy to navigate. The inventory system rocks. On screen, everything else was discreet and non-obtrusive. Hats off to the people who worked on those things.

I want to go on, but I haven't even finished yet. I was so impressed I just had to let some of it out. Thanks POS, it is amazing.

TheGreatGraham

Yeah, Graham was great!  Wish it was a little longer, but I suppose it's just a demo (I do hope that's not the entire chapter, though).
I'll admit when I looked on here and saw all the hype surrounding the game,  I was thinking it might not be as fantastic as everyone was saying it was going to be.  I shamefully admit I was totally wrong :'(.  It looked very professional and clean (like the icons and stuff).  Of course it also needs some polishing, but it would be superb even if it wasn't polished.  So hats off for your dedication, and may the first part to TSL be out in a couple of weeks or something (even if it's this year it will be fine :))

Yes, it's AWESOME ;D I just LOVED the music, it was the first thing that left me in awe. It sets a great atmosphere for the game!! The graphics are just gorgeous, I especially like the room with all the beautiful reflections!! ;D I was also really impressed by the dialogue and the voice acting, especially the conversation with the ferryman. It was so real!!

The only bad things I can think of for the demo are;

-The bugs
-You can't click the walking cursor everywhere
-The lip synching seems to be off at some places, especcially the oracle (could be my pc tho)

Other than that, it's PERFECT ;D I think it's a good thing that it's so short, because this is supposed to be just a taste of what's to come ;D

BTW I have a feeling that I spelt especially wrong, am I right? :P

Ok I fixed it :P

There's a spell check button, but yes, it's only spelled with one "c".

What bugs are you experiencing (start a new thread for them, maybe?)

And you're right about the lip synching with the oracle. But that has to do with the fact that it's a pretty new scene, relative to the others (Neil correct me if I'm wrong! But wasn't when it added to the demo, it had to be created from scratch in just a couple weeks?) But I know the team's working on it :)

A Couple of things about the game. First thing is that I was pretty impressed with the graphics, And the gameplay was really really good. But amongst all this i Still have to say this..

YALL ARE EVIL! You give us all a taste of teh heavenly game and then you take it away... I got like 5 minutes into and said... Oh yeah I Can't wait to start unwravling the story, And then you just took it away... Seriously my sister and I were crying because It was so short (lol).

One last thing. When I was installing the game There was a file called EASTER EGG... Is there a easter egg in the game? ;)

koko_99_2001

I don't know. I didn't see one...but I'm not good at finding them :( :P

I also am beyond impressed. I liked the added elements of familiarity, like Cassima's Nightengale, Sing-Sing, is there, how cute is that? Not to mention it was like playing 6 all over again, but new and fresh at the same time! The detail is excellent. Fantastic Guys!  ;D

Only things to add for helpfulness:
Also noticed lip synching a little off in places
Graham seems to slide and not walk in some parts of scenes

koko_99_2001

Oh yeah, the sliding. You may try playing the demo again. The first time I played this version of the demo, Graham slid ALL over the place. I don't think  he took one step of his own XD So yeah, maybe playing again will help :)

I am suprised that the game looks professional as in a game sold commerically.  The game just doesn't look fan made in my opinion.  It seems that you guys put a lot of effort into this game as oppose to just cutting corners.  For example, what I like is that the graphics are consistant thoughout the game unlike the other fanmade kq games where you can tell a certain sprite animation doesn't match up with another.  In one of the other fan games out there, you see a kq5 Garaham sprite used as walking animation, but a kq1 ega version is used for climbing, which cause some scaling issues since the two sprites are of different scale.

In other words, it looks awsome that the mesh art or texture of the character faces in your game are consistant in one another in art style as oppose as let's say, having a western art style for one character's face and having an anime style face for another.

Thanks! ;D

I attribute this to two things.  Firstly, our very talented Art department that produces high-quality work from sketch all the way to final 3D animated.

But also to Art Direction, because we have people such as Richard Flores, Michael Fortunato Allert van der Leij, Owen Maken and Jon Stoll who ensure all artwork performed by any staff member meet a consistant level of quality.  For example, someone may design something artisticaly their own way, which may even look excellent, but it may differ with the artistic concept and style in-game (based on the context of the plot).  This is why we have a Directive staff to oversee and ensure that a final pass goes over all work done, producing top quality results. :)

I'm impressed.

I don't think its quite up to professional game stuido quality; graphics seem somewhat lower poly count than most commercial games currently, and look somewhat washed out. Animation seemed a bit stiff. Hopefully the dogs will actually have moving mouths.

Maybe some of these issues have been addressed already in the current build they are working on.

Maybe I'm just been spoiled by modern games, and we can't expect the game to look as good as say big budget titles like most 3-d games that have come out recently. Not to mention if the better it looks comes at a price to performance and system requirements would be higher. But its one of the best looking freeware products I've seen in a long time.

But as for the music, that is definitely well done, as is the voice acting for the most part (oberan's voice was somewhat annoying). Whoever did the Hassan's voice did a pretty good job emulating the actor from KQ6. Graham's voice I thought was excellent choice. Its not quite Josh Mandel, but sounds close enough to like graham sounded in previous games that it can pass off quite easily.

As for the story, I'm intrigued I want to learn more. Please don't let us wait too long POS and Vivendi heh heh.
Well, ya, King's Quest is on Earth. Daventry is very old city from a long time ago. It's in ruins now and people aren't quite sure exactly where it used to be. There are some archaeologists searching through the ruins, they think they know its Daventry. But its somewhere on Earth."-Roberta Williams http://kingsquest.wikia.com/wiki/File:Daventryisearth.ogg

I actually thought the sliding was fun.  It reminded me of older games and cartoons where the bad guy makes a grim pronouncement, throws his cloak over his face, and then slides out of frame, usually to little musical score.  Maybe it's just me though.  ;D

One thing that I noticed, there's a line when you try to pick something up more than once that says, "Stop it, or we call the King's Quest police.  We don't care you are the king."  The last line should be "We don't care if you are the King" or something like that.  The only reason I noticed it is because I do that same type of thing ALL the time.  It's when I'm typing fast and already have the line in my head and then just drop one of the articles or a small word.  It's just a very minor thing and other than that I can't think of any problems.

I LOVE the dialogue and narration though!  It's great.  I especially love when you try to click the hand icon on Graham.  "Guards!! Guards!! Someone's trying to...fine, I'll stop if you do."   ;D ;D

I just finished the demo, and am extremely impressed. Not only does it brilliantly succeed at thrusting the player back into the KQ universe, it succeeds at giving a fun and engaging taste of the game without giving too much away. I was afraid that the demo would dampen my appreciation of the final game due to already playing some of it, but I sincerely doubt that will be the case now.

I do feel really guilty about getting two credits, though. I think my role on the team involves two parts of one job, not two separate jobs.
Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes...

I agree on Graham's voice.  I actually like it better than Mandel's voice despite him being Graham in all but one game(MOE).  Just that Mandel's Graham sounded dry at times and a bit of an a**** in kq5.  I don't know if it was the dialoge in kq5, but did it seems that Graham would only give back ppl's stuff to get something in return?

However, I think the voice actor for Edger father's needs to sound more "older" and wise like a deity.  He sounds too young, imo.

There's nothing to feel guilty about. :P  PR and Web are interconnected, and you do great job at both. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I agree.  I never heard the KQ5 Graham, but in comparison with KQ2+ and the TSL Graham (Jason Victor), I do prefer our Graham to the "official" one.

Oberon sounded fine to me.  I can't remember what he sounded like in KQ7.  For some reason I'm remembering a British accent, but maybe that was someone else.

I Love it!!!! The game was WAY more professional than I had ever thought it would be, the voices were great (the mouth movements were a little off, maybe it's me though) and the castle was too cool ;D...Keep it up!
