The fact that I have no idea just how far they'll take the whole "darkness" thing... if you want to go all serious and dark, there's no better way to do it than having someone die. But then, it would be very un-KQ-like if someone does die (really die, not just 'gone to visit the land of the dead' die).
Hence the indecisiveness

isn't there no part cast for Valanice? Just a thought but maybe if she's dead there wouldn't be a reason for her to speak (except in flashbacks)
