Wow! are you for real??

What kind of games do you usually play in your PC? (and going back to topic as well! :P) What games would you play over Wii? :D

Hehe, I'd love to play any of the games.  Alex mentioned a pretty good one today.  I'm not sure if I'd start with that, but those kinds of games are pretty fun to play IMO. :P

Yes, I am for real.  I even have two mice and one is an older mouse with a mouse ball inside for movement and the other is a fairly modern optical mouse.  That is one reason I was a little annoyed at a poster for suggesting that 98SE is not that good since it is no longer supported by Microsoft as of July 11, 2006 in the technical support thread for TSL under the 98SE will work in TSL (or something similar).  Apparently, it is the third most used operating system after Windows XP and Windows 2000.  I think the main reason for this is the great legacy support it has for older games.

I enjoy playing the King's Quest games on my PC.  I also enjoy a lot of the older Sierra games like the Quest for Glory series, Space Quest series and Police Quest series.  I have not seen too many modern games that I am interested in and I am starting to get busy at work so my time is more limited for playing games.  I played and beat Sinbad and the Legend of the Seven Seas a little while back.  I had bought it at a clearance price.  I just started playing Kingdom Hearts on the Playstation 2 which I have at my folk's house.  I look forward to the new Zelda game for the Wii.

Hey that's very nice. I admire you for being so firm with what you stand on (sticking to 98SE and resisting upgrading to others) I know each time any of the new comes out, I try to update, because all my other software (specially if new) becomes quite annoying in between the system I am using (MSN and any other silly applications I run).

Enjoying so many old games, what do you think of Kingdom Heart? :P It is so different from old Sierra games :D (I believe Rosella and Cesar *love* that game)

And just on random more comments about Wii... what weirds me out is the controlling system, but that is what I am looking forward to try, I guess. More than any game in particular, although I have read some review of some reaaally new original games which get me curious, indeed!

I'm incredibly hyped for the launch now. Nintendo have REALLY got their act together with the Wii. Heres my most prized features:

- 1st Party Games region free!!!!!!!! Seeing as most of you are in America or there abouts this isn't much of a big deal but for us Europeans who get games a good 3 to 6 months later than you (and in some cases when dealing with Japanese games NEVER) this is really positive news :]

- Wii Channels! Free channels which are constantly updated with news and weather reports as well as a cool sounding Flickr/myspace channel where you can post photos and comment on others photos etc.

- Mii - Create your own avatar to use for online purposes which is totally customisable. Here's hoping for some kind of face mapping software update for this before long!

- Zelda ON LAUNCH. nuff said ;p

Loads more but these new features have been a big shock for me and its shaping up to be a really amazing console *gush gush gush*

Sigh PAL territories always get screwed over by Nintendo :( its £170 here which is $426 AU so its not too much difference. Still I'm still holding out for a pre release pricedrop! The gamecube was supposed to be £150 here but launched at £129.99.

Wow! PAL territories do get screwed over, rather unfortunate but ah well. I'll just wait 12 months or so before getting one, I guess.

I have changed my mind and think that the wii has the most potential and even enough potential to launch Nintendo into the #1 spot followed by Microsoft and in last place Sony.

A user has to buy the ultimate PS3 which will cost about $600 to have the backwards compatibility. --- Lots of money

I have heard a great deal about Digital Rights Management and how it will be used extensively on Blue Ray --- this will limit user's copying ability and other stuff that will affect the user's experience

I read in Game Informer that Sony does not really have a good strategy yet with gaming companies on the Playstation 3 and the release date is in November and it is already October.

Sony has lost user's trust by putting spyware/rootkit/baddies on music cd that affected user's computers

I believe the Wii will do extremely well.  Everyone I know is getting one (that's why I'm NOT getting one, at least not yet  =P).  The trick here is innovation and money.

It's been a while since the gaming world has seen any console upgrade other than BETTER GRAPHICS (YAY!), FASTER SPEED (AWESOME!), and MORE DISK SPACE (WOOHOO!).  While this "type" of controller has been attempted in the past (an independent handheld game by Microsoft no less...I'd be surprised if anyone else remembers that because it was a LOOOONG time ago), the difference between then and Now is how many games are going to utilize the controller.

While this is cool and all, the most important factor on everybody's mind--not just the average consumer's--is, "How much will it cost me?"  Nintendo...wins.

The average consumers are going to jump on this newfangled technology especially because of its cheaper price.

If Nintendo keeps up the pace and advertises the Wii correctly, I'm absolutely sure it will come out on top this time.

While I commend Sony for creating all the technology for the PS3, I won't be buying one until it gets way cheaper.  And I'm a PS2 junkie...  I'd just rather upgrade my PC with $600 than buy a PS3 for $600 that I'm only going to play maybe 2 games on (Metal Gear Solid 4 and any Final Fantasy game that comes along).

Also, can anyone say, THE TWILIGHT PRINCESS?!  YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

EDIT 1: Whoops!  As for the original question...it all depends on game developers.  If we want it, we will make it happen.

EDIT 2: And it's around that time when the people who used to LOVE adventure games are now regular video game consumers.  I'm sure there's a better chance now than later.
