Beta Testing

Definitely.  There wouldn't be any point in making this game if we didn't have people out there like you guys to actually enjoy it.  We probably wouldn't even have gotten permission from VU to continue without the support from all our fans.

One fine day, I just kidnapped him from the forum, and even though he had a bumpy road (when he applied he had time but when I hired him he didn't!!)

LOL!  Yeah, that summer was so screwed up for me.   When I applied I had a ton of free time, and then literally everything happened at once.

No game is worth making unless there is a fanbase! And TSL is perfect in every aspect! The only downside to Neil on the team is the  situation! Seriously, someone has to write him up! !

I think we'll all get chosen qiuetly, then given a password to get in, and then they'll give us an error message that says, "You fell for it! We're not really giving you an early version of TSL!  with it!"

No seriously, I think only a few people the team sees fit for the task will get chosen! And you have even better chances by starting to get active on the forums and being nice to the team members that have the power to grant you your deepest desires! Now all we have to do is find the magic lamp that you're hiding somewhere... (Makes up Magic Lamp section where you can vent all of your wishes and see if they come true!)

I can understand that. Why play a game and keep getting kicked out of it, right? I'm not sure which I prefer. I would love to help beta test...but I also am not 100% sure that I want the memories (when I'm playing the finished game) where I remember "oh, here is where it kicked me off this way. And here is where it did that strange thing."

I think I wouldn't want to beta test because then I'd be a suspect if the beta version of the game were to leak out onto the internet. In a case like that, is it actually possible to prove that you're innocent?

If you sign up to be on the fan list, I believe you can be considered to beta test. But maybe Neil or someone else can fill you in a bit more about that.

Actually, I would love to have random memories like that. It's like when I scratched this cd terribly and it couldn't get past one line, and I always laugh when I hear it on the radio.

I betatested Uru, that was fun. 

Though it did get a little tiresome solving the same puzzles over and over after each fix and subsequent deletion of characters.

Ideally, the majority of the bugs will be fixed (through internal testing) before the beta testers get them.  It's not like we'd be giving you something filled with bugs and expect you to find them all.

But yeah, I can see what you guys mean by it spoiling some of the magic.  Not to mention, you'd be under our non-disclosure agreement so you wouldn't even be able to share your experiences with anyone outside the team.  Still though, the first time you test it will be the first time you play it.  It wouldn't really matter if you played it with the Britney Spears version of Rosella or Rosella herself (relax, there is no Rosella Spears ).

I'm so glad. I cannot imagine a Princess acting like Britney (though, Stephanie, it could be argued, does act like her in some ways )

I think I used a bad analogy ("bad" on many levels ).

I meant the game the beta testers get and the game everyone else gets afterwards won't be much different.  It may have less bugs and some finishing touches, but other than that it'll essentially be the same.

Good! But I think I might like the bugged version when I get it, so I can see what it's like before any of you! No offense! But how would you distribute it? Would you have a special site or page for the downloading, like a password type entry, or something else like that?

Yeah, it'll be on a restricted part of the site that only the testers (and team members, obviously) have access to.

Focus people! We're on the beta-test subject, not the off-topicness that I like so much! If we get chosen to beta-test, would we be doing the other two games, or would you find new people for those? And once the game is released, would you be able to share your experiences then?

Even though they are the same game, we might consider each as a different groups (specially for beta testing) because we believe the audience will grow therefore would be unfair to keep the new fans out, so in order to make it fair we might consider it as we move along, but since you ask me now I can provide you as much info as I can.

About the confidentiality of the information and such, you will be provided the specific info at the moment of that happening, for now, I'd rather keep those details just for the moment of that to happen.

I would LOVE to beta-test...but ultimately, I think I can wait. As long as I don't know who is beta-testing. Like Neil said, I wouldn't want the magic to be spoiled. Plus, I wouldn't want to without spoilers from others; I would become the Thought I Hate if I did that! (Neil... )
