Only you, my dear. ;D j/k No, really, just everyone else on this board.

Everything... and nothing, just what comes up at the moment, like I'm doing with bushie now. :D

Quote from: Jeysie on November 20, 2003, 05:36:42 PMHoly glop on a stick! I found an MSN program that connects! Of course, it's a Windows version of a Linux program, which is probably why. ::)
Must be that cursed MSNP9-protocol giving Trillian-users trouble. Strange though the patch won't solve that, very strange... Anyway, don't like running two messenger programs at a time. :-\

No, aMSN uses the new protocol as well. IMHO, I think honestly it's simply the fact my version of aMSN is a port of a Linux clone, and therefore it's programmers can't rely on any help from the IE engine.

I may try the Win port of the all-in-one GAIM again... the last time I tried it, it wouldn't even run, but there's a new version out, and I can't remember if I tried it before or after the given update date. :P Of course, it's not as small as Trillian, and puts a few files in the Windows folder. (sigh) You could try GAIM, CC... maybe it'll work for you.

Hee, sorry, it's an old in-joke. The bass of my roomie's old quartet had this gag where he'd say in response to some suggestion, "I'm game if you are!", and in response, everyone would hold their hands up to their heads in an imitation of moose/deer antlers. Think about it for a little while... it'll make sense. (Well, to a native English speaker, anyway... hmm.)

Anyhoo. If you decide to bail out on the MSN idea, CC, my IRC idea is still open. And to everyone else, of course... more fun that way. ;)

You missed my point, I was trying to make clear maybe Trillian doesn't use that protocol.

While I might not be a native English speaker but I got the in-joke anyway. Didn't need to think about it for a while at all.

Otay, I tried the latest Win port of GAIM, and it seems to work OK... (knock on wood)

You might want to give it a try, CC.

Indeed it seems to work. So, how do I go about adding you to my list and what info do I need to give to you to add me to your list (MSN-wise)?

In GAIM it's Buddies-Add a buddy
Screename is the person's username. In the case of MSN, it's the e-mail address the person registered their MSN account with. Alias is the nick you want to have a person's account show up as on your buddy list. Choose the right group and account, and hit Add.

If you wanted to add me to your list, you'd use jeysie@att.net as the username. If you want us to add you to our lists, you'd have to give us your MSN account e-mail.

BTW, I really need to figure out some way to get Trillian working. GAIM is OK, but rather buggy. :P I'd still prefer the IRC idea. ;)

Quote from: copycat on November 26, 2003, 02:14:44 PMTrillian, on the other hand, is currently only configured to auto-logon to ICQ, I just can't figure out where it stored the ICQ logon-data because the AIM/ICQ page now shows the AIM logon-data.

Sorry about the double post, but I had two brain cells bump together and give me a puff of logic, and I wanted to make sure CC read it. ;)

Anyhoo. On the AIM/ICQ page, it says "Note, you may enter your AIM Screen Name *OR* ICQ UIN here to login to each respective service."

So I would guess you would want to put in your AIM name and password, hit "Connect". Then go back, put in your ICQ name and password, hit "Connect". Then I would assume that both names would now be available by clicking on the little arrow on the right side of the name box. In fact, I would click on that first, just to check if your ICQ info is already there. Also, make sure the "Automatically connect to this account on startup" box is checked for both names. Maybe that will work.

You don't think I read every word of your posts very carefully? Besides, I even copy & paste quotes from different people on different times in one post, so I think I can handle that from you too. Besides, the 'New'-link orks perfectly and always takes me to first unread (by me)post in the thread. I never go directly to the last page.

Even my logic manages to fail me, or is the fact I never noticed that little arrow not connected to that ability? In any case, I now found my ICQ logon-date so since I now know where it's stored, I can safely turn the auto-connect on for AIM as well, since I do not need to worry about erasing my ICQ logon-data. 8)

Ah, but... you were online when I posted the initial post, so I didn't know if you had already read it or not.

And I'm flattered that you actually pay attention to all the blather I write. Even I barely have that much free time. ;)

Heh, don't feel bad, it took me a little while to make the connection myself. It's like, you try looking for the hard solution, when the simple one is right under your nose.

If a new reply is posted even while I'm reading a thread, I think it'll appear as 'New' when I return to the thread-page. If I'm reading another thread, it's certain to be marked as 'New'.

If I won't even read the messages posted by my lovely one, I'd not be worth calling you that so...  :-* BTW, I read every (new) post made on this forum, sooner or later.

Lemme rephrase. I posted the initial post. I then had to go and add information. If I simply modified the initial post, AFAIK it would not be marked as new again, so if you had already read the post before I modified it, you might miss the modification.

Er, OK, I guess that doesn't make that much more sense. Oh well, it's not important.

You seem to underestimate my logical reading skills. I now understand your concern.
The question is: if someone has read a post, and after that someone modifies the post, does it appear as 'New' again, or not?

I seem to have gotten an MSN request from someone named jeysie@att.net asking to add me to her buddy/contact list. Now I've got two of her as well, but I 'nick'-ed the new one as 'Liz. ;D I can't seem to find an authorization-item in the preferences, does that mean it's default behaviour for ICQ, AIM or MSN in GAIM to ask for permission before someone gets to add you to their list? Or is it default behavior for ICQ and MSN, but not for AIM? Or, third option: I have overlooked that item, but there aren't a lot of preference-items so that'd be quite difficult.

In my experience, it does not, but someone more familar with the forum software would be able to give a definitive answer. (tickles Yonkey)
I don't think modifying a post will mark it as 'New'.   8)

Quote from: Jeysie on December 07, 2003, 02:44:42 PMWell, the problem is, you're searching the M$ database... how is that going to help you with a Trillian error? ;)
It is an error created by the M$n network...

Quote from: Jeysie on December 07, 2003, 02:44:42 PMOr you could e-mail Trillian themselves... I can't believe I just thought of that now.
I can't rightly find an e-mail address for tech support on the support-part of their site. :-\

Well, yes, but even M$ had an error fix, it would be for their MSN program, and not necessarily applicable to Trillian. ;)

They seem to have an "MSN 6 connectivity problems" "message nature" option.

I wasn't looking for an error fix, I was looking for a description of the error-number.

That's not in the support section is it? It's more in the 'Contact' section I'd say. ;) Anyway, I've just posted a message on their support forum. That's for starters, if they can't help me I'll try the contact-option. However, bear in mind that I'm a free version-user so I might not get an answer soon. :-\

I don't have MSN...nor do I intend to get it...I dont see 4 gazillion messenger programs.  I have AIM and Yahoo, but I'm nver on yahoo, i dont like it, and the whole 5 people i have on there are never on anyways...
Toaster + Tongue = Pain

Say

yeah I hardly use yahoo IM now since msn has the same that yahoo has and even its even more user friendly than yahoo can freaking ever be, even to send a file over yahoo gives me a headache, unlike msn you just drag and voila. Plus the webcam features (new features) are also very nice, although I think MSN 6.1 does sucks :P lol, I dont know if its just me but I think its buggy as hell, it gets moody sometimes :D
