Yeah... Westwood has officially "passed on"  :'(... They fell as Command and Conquer failed. It's kindof sad, actually... Westwood has always been around... though I have to admit, I was less than impressed with their last few attempts at strategy games... (Red Alert II totally killed it for me... Come on... Allied Dolphins?? Were they outta their gourd??)  ???

Anyway, In a week Ill be back at my house and if anyone needs a copy of any of the Kyrandia games.. I can IM it to ya...  ;D

I don't debate, I ramble with STYLE!

Abandonware… I almost (and still am toying with the idea) put up of my own Abandonware server/game station.   Mine was for Mac stuff but regrettably much of what I found was too unstable…

As for the question…
KQ was my favorite series when I was on my Apple IIe (my infamous youth) but once I got on my Mac with the revolutionary CD-ROM (remember that folks) I really got in to the "Journey Man Project", by that point KQ was sort of winding down and Sierra decided it didn’t like Mac’s anymore…  :'(

I <3 The Journeyman Project! :D I got the third one a few years ago, and finally got the first one for a really good price recently. Still trying to get the second one by itself for a really good price, perhaps if it comes up low on ebay sometime I'll get it. ;)

I only have a PC though, no Mac for me. :P (Though I do have a Mac emulator.... ;) ).

The CD I have of B.I.T or J2 was cross platform if I remember right, I’ll have to check. That might have been the best one! Who knows perhaps it’s ebayable?  Presto went under so I’m not sure if that games abandonware or what.  The Presto thing was sad…

No Mac? Get thyself a Mac! It makes everything all better!

Who designed the Mac OS? The same people who first designed Windows… Xerox. Apple bought the first graphical inference computer off of them (Xerox developed it in the late 70’s and thought it wouldn’t sell), used it to design the Mac, and Microsoft soon followed with Windows for DOS based X86 machines.

As for your complaints about the Mac OS, have you tried OS X? It’s smooth as a baby’s…well you know. Doesn’t really mater, whatever OS does the job for you. I’ve got a Windows box too. Each OS has there own positive and negative attributes

(ET reminds himself that this thread was about game series, and tries to get on topic)

To get back on topic, another series I really liked was “Monkey Island”.  Now that’s funny stuff. I didn’t like 4 so much, why did it have to be 3D?

Mary Jane

My favorites are KQ, MI, and Zelda. (If you can count the Castlevania games as adventure games I will put that on the list to.)

Nope, it was only the third one. It was widely released for PC on DVD. There was a Mac version but it was only available bundled with certain Mac’s to show off their new included DVD drives.

Presto Studios was working on "Myst III" on DVD when they folded. This has since been released as part of the $20 (US retail) "Myst Collection" DVD set.  Cyan put out an excellent "Riven" DVD as well!

Thought I'd add my two pesos. :x

I have a soft spot for games with a good sense of humor, so my favorite series have to be Kyrandia (obviously, hence my nick XD; although the first one KILLED me with the Fire Caves, gah!), KQ and Leisure Suit Larry. XB  I'm starting to get into Space Quest, too.

As for my LEAST favorite, that would definitely have to be the Hugo series.  Anyone remember Hugo?  I played the first two, and could never get past more than the first third of EITHER of them.  And I HATE not finishing games.>:(  But I hated Hugo more. XD;;

Unfortunately, I know the games your talking about. My parents got way into all 3 Hugo games and spent weeks on them (which meant at the time I had no computer to use. I had to either watch them, or do something else)  :P

Anyway, if your into humor, you should try out the Monkey Island games (3rd one in particular) but, you dont have to take my word for it. Pindarus would probably recommend it too  ;)

Hugo is fun, though admittedly the first one was tricky at parts and the second one was confusing. I never came close to getting full points in the second one, even with a walkthrough. The third Hugo game kicks butt though. ;)

I didn't find Kyrandia too humorous... but then I only played the first one. Hated the fire caves as well :P

Sadly, I'm played all Hugos as well... I even wrote a walkthough for the first one :P Those were some of the stupidest most annoying games I've ever played. I can't believe the guy who made them still makes money off them (or so he supposedly claimed, as he disallowed the distribution of a remake made for one of them  :-\)
I especially hated the second one since I got hopelessly stuck there (what were you supposed to do with that catnip? >:() IIRC I had to use a walkthrough :-\

Still Hugo was one of the bases of Adventure gaming...I like the krondor games though...but I never believed it was the work of the same sierra who made KQ6 in 1993!
