Betrayal at Krondor

Wow, I just totally realized something...

I just started to read the Riftwar Saga by Feist a few days ago, having only read the first couple books of the series before. Now I go on DeviantArt to look at fanart people have made of them, and someone mentions Betrayal of Krondor.

WTF! There's a sierra game based off the books! And the author even wrote a book based off it! That's just pretty cool...

Must get this game now.

At first glance I can understand that, the fighting engine is pretty lame and its very easy to complete the game missing out on about 75% of the content. However after playing the game extensively I still find myself replaying it for its unique feeling. The music is great and most of the voice acting is very good.

I should really play Betrayal and read the books though, I guess I keep putting it off.

Main reason I don't like Return to Krondor is because you don't spend much time in the overworld - a good part game is spent confined in Krondor.

Also, how come James is only a squire in Return when he was a segunier (Midkemmian equivalent of knight) in Betryal?

Hehe, I downloaded BAK after reading this thread, just finished Chapter 1. I like the fact that all these nobles run around digging up graves.

To Boogeyman, at least Krondor is pretty big, I was pretty suprised that Sarth didn't even make it on the map in Return though.

I always wondered why James was a squire too, ah well.

Yay, after getting distracted by the World of Warcraft books, I finally got to the the Krondor books in his thirty book series, so now I just need to get them from the library. (I got one of the later books thinking it came before the Krondor ones, but luckily realized it before I got to the third chapter, I don't want to ruin the surprise of the Krondor books)

Now the question is, should I read the books or play the games first?

I got about halfway through Betrayal and then had to stop because of a bug. I downloaded the patch a few weeks later and never really got back to finishing it.
