housands of years ago, man discovered ancient arts of mysticism, used in the creation of the world by the Ancients in the glorious beginning.  This art was known as magic to the common folk.  It was, and still is, both man's savior and destroyer.  Man used the arcane for good and evil, and divided thusly.
Two societies came to be, those of Silver and Black.  Wizards, witches, sorcerers, magicians, and conjurers: many spell users came from all over, congregating in grandious rituals, in vast numbers the modern world could never imagine.  As with all mortals filled with greed and pride, they would only lead themselves into wrath.
War broke out between the two.  Genocide it was, as both societies left each other to near extinction.  Survivors there were however, and the secrets to these godly powers were left near unknown to generations onwards.  Do not be fooled, their war is not over, and probably never will.
This is their stories.  This is ...

The Society Chronicles

Beware, for their is much darkness that reader's eyes should never gander upon.  Regardless, all born from nature is capable of learning from its mistakes, and sometimes we are forced to gaze into the horrible in order to better our own selves.  You have been warned.

Introduction
The Society Chronicles follow the fictional events that have taken place in the King's Quest mythos.  This time from that of the Black Cloak and Silver Cloak Society perspectives.  As you've probably already guessed, I am taking a lot of the Silver Lining's timeline as canon into this fanfiction.
We all love conspiracy theories.  Well, at least I know I do.  Roberta Williams really left her games with very little of a connection.  The TSL team thought so, and so have I even years back.
Each chapter will cover an entire King's Quest game, usually before it's events.  You'll be getting these chapters from both sides of the story (Silver and Black).  For the most part, you can also expect particular characters narrating their chapter, maybe even more than one.
I hope you'll enjoy this fanfic, and please give comments and criticism.

Silver Chapter 1: Deceit
By Sorceror Ormenos

November 12, 1580 DC
It was a glorious age for the Kingdom of Daventry.  King Edward the Benevolent, with his Queen Isabella, sat on his throne, with no cares in the world.  Save for one, but I'll get back to that forthwith.  It wasn't his leadership that helped the country to prosper so majestically, oh no.  It was the treasures.  Glistening and sparkling they could even further, but sitting in the dusted corner they did.
Why couldn't I?  Blasted Protector's Oath!  I tell you that such rules are made to be broken.  Besides, I knew what was best for the kingdom, it was only a small price t-- ... I'm afraid I'm getting ahead of myself again.  Let me start where this fiasco, extremely overrated I must say, came to be.
The King and Queen had no heir to their throne.  They tried to have children, but luck was particularly not on their side.  I came to them with a proposition, a worthy deal.  With a little magic, I would impregnate the Queen with a child.  Of course I couldn't really perform such a feat, but I would be sure to accomplish it at some point later.  This was, of course, in exchange for a marvelous gift.  It was one of foresight, into the future it would see.  Although there is an Oracle within the Silver Society, her powers were meek in comparison.  Before I was given my reward, they saw a new King in it.  I suppose I would be successful at some point with my magic.
"Greetings!  How do you far?" I gave my welcome to the supposedly 'wisest' of our order, Merlin. "Dreadful news has come to my ears Ormenos.  The sacred Magic Mirror has been stolen." Stolen!?  His sources are indeed misleading. "I am afraid you were told wrong.  It was traded for a spell to bare the Queen a fruitful child." He looked up, quizzical.
"I was not aware there are any magicians known to craft such spiritus magicks."
"Oh why must you be so concerned of 'now'?  The future we must look to Merlin, and I mean that only in our best interest."
"The future is not known to man, and I would hope it would stay that way."
"What about Daventry's royalty!?  They held a mirror that told them it.  Why are dotards as they worthy of such rare tokens, using it to only look at next years harvest!?"
"By the gods, please don't tell me ..."
I flicked my wrist, and there sat before him the Magic Mirror. "Behold Merlin, with the advantage of an all-seeing eye amongst us, we can finally purge the land of the Black Cloaks!"
"Get out." He told me sternly. "You have betrayed the sacred oath, all for your own selfish desires for revenge." I didn't budge, and I had no reason to. "Get out now!" The pompous goat tried to paralyze me, but I had already conjured one of my own.  I left with the mirror in my grasp, and left behind my Silver Cloak.

February 16, 1582 DC
I spent over a year in the forests of Daventry with no where to go.  I was surprised to find that my old brethren had not hunted me down yet.  I would strongly doubt that any knowledge I hold in evasion helped me in any way.  The plague had struck hard among Daventry in my time of wandering.  Some King he was ...
Not sure how he used it to his advantage.  Every time I consulted the Magic Mirror, it would only be shrouded in mist.  The inane piece of glass, what junk it was.  Well, that's at least what I thought at the time, but I would be proven wrong.  A figure shrouded in black came to my place of hiding.  The very trees in the forest seemed to lean away from him, knowing of his evil.  It was the Shade, Shadrack, Chief among the Black Cloak Society.  I wondered how he entered the land, as the kingdom was protected with magic from all darkness ...
I stammered in fear, knowing my powers would not withstand his.  "Why so frightened sorceror?" he asked me. "I have not come to destroy you." I stood up, but it wasn't of my own will. "I come with, what did you call it in the castle, a 'bargain' did you?" He knew of the Mirror.  I prepared a spell, but he quickly stopped me. "Consider yourself fortunate, for I can save you from the Silver Cloaks."
"How ... how do you ..."
"Lets just say I know your order better then you would imagine.  Did you really think they would accept such an exquisite treasure?"
He was right, I knew Merlin and the rest of them well enough.  I suppose delusions of grandeur had set forth in me at the time.
"I was tempted to doom you with an atrocitious hex, but I see that you hold talent quite useful to me."
Why join his occult of warlocks and witches?  Well, with a finger pointed towards my head, I really had no choice.  So I became an initiate among the Society of the Black Cloak.

December 4th, 1592 DC
Ten years past, and every day I spent under the Black shadow.  All three of Daventry's treasures (The Magic Mirror, Magic Shield of Achilles, and Magic Chest of Gold) were now in our possession, hidden amongst the kingdom.  Shadrack was a patient man, and he would get what he wanted, no matter the cost.  Why he did all this I was never told, but I'm sure it was simply for wealth and prestige.
I was tasked, along with a cold witch who had taken residence amongst the forest, to destroy a knight who was after the King's gifts.  It was on the 23rd of September that I would run into the knight Graham.  No armor?  No Sword and Shield?  No valiant stalion?  And this forsaken kingdom knighted him ... Oh did I underestimate him.
When our eyes met, I walked from out of the bushes and simply cast a paralysis spell, chuckling as I went off, expecting an ogre or wolves to eat him.  A large ferocious ogre did come, as I watched from a distance.  He escaped the Ogre!  In fact, he went on to defeat a Giant and a Dragon.  He gathered the three treasures back to the King, and would be crowned for his deeds!
The Silver Cloak Society, they were in league with him I'm sure of it.  This new "King Graham" will pay.  I will be sure of it, and I have been assured with more among the vicious ranks that in due time, Graham will leave his castle.  Opportunity is knocking, and it has granted me a second chance.

Hey everyone, sorry its been a while since I've updated this fanfic.  I'm REALLY busy with school :(

I probably won't have time to work on it for about another 2 weeks.  Would still like some comments on Silver Chapter 1, I can't really tell if anyone likes it or not :-\
