Clever people don't fall down the stairs 2 minutes before they're meant to leave their house to go to work.

Lol.  Guess which category I fall under?:

CLEVER

Awww.... :(

Sorry you fell, Mango, I hope it didn't hurt too much. I fell down the stairs quite a bit as a kid. :P

Ouch. No broken bones I hope ;)

I remember when I was small I used to think I could fly, so I decided to jump off the stairs and landed in a crumpled pile on the floor! Luckily just had bruising tho  ;D

Jeysie

I have never once fallen down the stairs. I have, however, fallen *up* the stairs many a time.

I hope it didn't hurt too much, Mercury... I'd guess that since you were still at home no one saw you take a header... if that's true, you can at least console yourself with that. ;)

One time I was going to an SF convention at a university with a really long staircase. And I fell halfway up, in front of several people. One fellow came over to help me up, and asked if I'd hurt anything... I told him "Only my pride!". Then, just to add injury to insult, they next dayr I had a nasty cramp in my neck, went to the doctor, and found out I had sprained my neck. ::)

So, see, Mercury... no matter how clutzy you are, there's always someone even more d****** that you can laugh at. :suffer: Rejoice!

Peace & Luv, Liz

Poor Jeysie!  I fell down the stairs at college, in front of a load of people one time.  I got so embarrassed, that I just got my stuff and RAN!

I've stumbled down stairs before, but until now I've always managed to stay upright when doing that because I was close to the ground floor (aka first floor in American English). I've also had times when I lost my balance for a moment when going up stairs, but I could recover quickly enough. Waaaay back in my memory there might be a recollection of me losing that balance maybe once, but that recollection is not clear anymore so I can't rely on that, it might be compromised. :-X

Anyway, I know from my own experience you don't need to fall from stairs to break anything (i.e. a wrist), just stumbling on the ground is good enough. And if you're running when you stumble, that's even better. :-\

Very true. You can fall down and break stuff even if you're just standing. I know a woman who stumbled on the floor and fractured her knee-cap - very painful, not to mention several weeks in cast  :o

Falling forward is usually not as bad as falling backwards... I was washing some steps a while ago, slipped and fell flat on my back. Luckily, I managed to grab hold of the railing, which kept me from slipping all the way down and landing in a heap at the bottom of the stairs. I got some nasty blue marks (I bruise very easily), and as I was lying pained on the wet steps and trying to scrape myself off them, the first thing on my mind was "Geez, I'm glad no one saw THAT!" :P

I've fallen numerous times, and even hit my head quite a few time.  :suffer: No broken bones yet....

Yonkey

I don't think I've ever fallen down stairs before.  There were times where I tripped on some, but never really fell or got hurt.  Hehe, I remember when I was little at some relative's house I used to jump down flights of stairs into some pillows or something at the bottom.  I remember it being so much fun too, though I would never do anything like that now!   ;D

You still can, you just need more pillows. ;D
