Speculations on when this game will be released: Hmm, I'm guessing sometime between tomorrow and December, 2008.  ??? ;D

So righteous in our blood.
It looks so tarnished in our eyes,
Yet so afraid of...

Fading into nothing,
Fading into nothing.
Just a trace of light
That burns within our thoughts... "

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcomes they are much appriciated, I really do miss Kings Quest but I miss the classica adventure games that used to be on the market I do wish that genre would make a comback but what can you do? At least the wonderful people are making Kings Quest game for us and from what I can tell they are doing a damn good job keep it up and take your time so you can do it right and in the end be proud of what you have accomplished.

OK. As of this moment... I haven't made any on my homework!!  ;D

In other news, progress is overrated. Sometime's it's a 2 steps forward, 1 step back kind of thing. So... here's a new question: have there been any distinct setback-type-things on the KQ9 project, and was something valuable garnered from the experience? Like, something that had to be redone or changed completely. Rethought. Replanned. Re...executed. Um. You get the picture. This sounds like a homework question. Maybe I should get back to mine. :P

Definitely!  I won't get into specifics, but during the summer we spent a great deal of time trying to figure something out in the Programming department, and after months of work, it turned out to be pretty much useless.  It was and is certainly the best way to go about doing what we want to achieve, but in order to get to where we want, we have to do a LOT of work ourselves because we were taking an uncharted but mandatory route.  Anyway, because it was leading us nowhere, we decided to take a different course of action, and may return to the "better" route sometime in the future, when it is better developed for our needs.  The way we solved this problem is by taking an alternate course which isn't the best way to do it, but it is all we can do.  I guess the lesson learned is the best way to do something isn't always the easiest way, and you have to realize the the best way may not even be an option.

That was more about an issue with the game itself being a setback, but there have also been setbacks caused by people.  You can trust too much in people, believing that they can get jobs done and would make a good team member.  A few months later, the person abuses that trust and believes the game is dependant on his schedule and whenever he feels like working on it.  I've been making allowances because their reasons were legit, but as a result, the game as a whole suffers.  One person's assignment may not always be directly related to another's, but they are related in the sense that they are ultimately needed for this game to be completed.

Lesson learned?  Trust is something you can earn, but once broken it can be very difficult to rebuild.  Only rely on people you trust the most, but even then don't assume you can rely on them forever.

I definately agree with you and faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen.  I have faith that KQ9 will be released when it is ready.

Well, I'll give you an 'A' for use of vocabulary, a 'C' for being so infuriatingly vague :P, another 'A' for explaining the situation well despite the amibuity, and a final 'A' for turning in your answer early. Or maybe for having a good grasp of human nature, pessimistic though it sounds. ;) So that's an 'A-' average, not bad... remember, 'A+' is only just around the corner... that perfect answer is obtainable with only a few alterations.  ;D heh heh... (you don't really expect us to stop bugging ya for details, do you??)

If anyone's curious (I know you're not :P) I did actually get all my homework done, yay! Just had to wake up at 5am.

Although I believe Neil gave out one of the best answers possible to this question, I must add that many things were re-structured when Cesar took over the development, for example, before they spent over a year and didn't get to finish 2 chapters of the whole plot, and Cesar managed to finish the whole plot in less than a year, with help from Katie and Rich and Michael F of course, and whoever else who was involved, this was the main situation why things just had to change, Cesar actually created the departments, assingned a director, a scheme, deadlines, organization... I should remember, way back then I was just an art assistant.

Long story short, everything has always been re-evaluated but to better things, obviously, it's not easy when life collides and you just must stop and go take care of things, I do know that everyone around here have had previously hard moments working at kq9 because no matter how much we want to sit down and spend our entire days working on this, real life works differently. So, I believe the hardest thing to learn from this, and I think I could speak most of us when I say this, is to stay put together to your own convictions (sp?) even though things are not likely for it, that's got to be the hardest thing to learn and we will see how strong we are once this all is over. The effort of constancy shall be the hardest to achieve through time, I'd say.

So far, I must say I'm not disappointed by the results I've witness through the years, amazing how it has never fell apart, completly the opposite.

I hope a progress report comes really soon.  Any possible idea when the fans will get a progress report.

They can't really say but remember stuff IS happening. You just have to wait. Think of the people who have been here from the BEGGINING! It's been a long wait but it will be worth it.  8)
