When I was in High School....

I wrote a story about the fall of Daventry.  A toxin spread across the land and made the once fertile fields rotten and unable to produce.  The lakes, rivers and streams became poisoned and killed all that touched their tainted waters.  The sun was blocked out by dark clouds and an endless storm of toxins and acid fell to the Earth.

Unable to find a way to save their home, Graham, his family and all their subjects leave their beloved homeland behind and board three great flagships.  They travel the seas for three years and eventually find a new land that instills them with new hope.

A new kingdom is established and life goes on, but their hearts are still trapped in Daventry.  Eventually, Graham decides to return to Daventry one last time to see the land of his birth.

Upon his return, he discovers that demons have invaded Daventry and feed upon the evil toxic vapors.  He spends the next few months banishing demons, he finds the demon lord and he defeats him and allows his home to rest in pieces.  Using a talisman he received from a gypsy fortuneteller long ago, he created a barrier around Daventry and closed it to the world forever.

It has some gaps, but I want to take a stab at this again.

Any ideas?

Hrm, sounds a bit like MoE but as long as the demons are handled creatively rather than hack+slash it should be okay. Sounds intriguing, I wonder what outside world they might've found...

Yeah it sounds a lot like moe but a lot more horrible with all the polution...poor Daventry. As Bushie says handle the demons with brains and not hack & slash. I wonder if the ships could encounter the modern world, America maybe? or they could go to Tamir, Kolyma, Lewdor, the Land of the Green Isles and Eldritch.

Perhaps they could go to Gloriana and encounter QFG heroes.

Nice idea. I think that the things they get to defeat most of the demons should be from wherever they land. Perhaps, the Isle of the Beast.

I'd like to see this idea written into a story. Sounds a bit sad though, people being forced to flee theri beloved homeland.
