Didn't see a recent thread for this so..here we go :P

I saw Half-Blood Prince on Wednesday...Possibly the best Potter film yet, I highly recommend it.

Going to start reading the entire series from the beginning again, hopefully tonight  ;D

 I agree. I hadn't read the book right before it though this time, hardly remembered the book at all actually, so I don't know what they changed. But I really liked it. The 2 1/2 hours went by so fast.

I was thinking of seeing this movie but wasn't sure, since the few Harry Potter movies I've seen were way too childish.  Do you think someone that hasn't read the previous books (i.e. me :P) would enjoy the movie?

Yes. I don't know if you've seen the last movie or not, but I think they're leaning towards "non-childish" at this point. I mean, there is teen angst in this movie, but it leans VERY much towards humor. The drama and acting of the "kids" is getting VERY good as well. Anyway, my main point about if you saw the last movie, and if you liked it or not, is this is the same director, as will be the last two films. (Splitting the last book into 2 movies so as not to skip anything important from that book)

Gah.  Harry Potter rocks my socks off (I am sporting a Potter tattoo on my hip), but I'm one of those weirdos who is (personally, I'm not applying this to anyone else) against seeing the movies and loves the books.  For me, Rowling wrote books, not scripts.  Of course, I know a billion people who adore both.  I'm just strange, I guess.  :P

I haven't seen the last movie.  Basically the two I saw were the Sorcerer's Stone & Prisoner of Azkaban... and those pretty much turned me off the entire series. :P

But, if this new one is dark and much more mature, then I think I will go see it! ;D

I definitely want to see it. Wonder if I can convince Erik that we should go. Good thing he enjoys the books and movies. I didn't care for the first few, but I think I remember liking the last one a bit more.

Yeah.  Saw the midnight premiere.  It was AMAZING!!  You're right about the humour, it was VERY funny!  I don't want to give too much away, but all I can say is you have to see it!  I am seeing it again tomorrow.

Just got back from seeing it, and yes, it was a pretty good movie.  There were a few references in it to previous films which I didn't really get, but otherwise it was pretty solid.  The only thing I really disliked was the very ending! Those of you that have seen it probably know exactly what I'm talking about. :P

I warned everyone I know who went and saw this that they would HATE the ending.  Oh well.  It was for a good cause, right?

Yeah, I guess so.  But when I saw that, I and several others in the theatre were like... "Gah!" :P

Eh? I'm not positive what you are referring to in the ending....Perhaps someone could fill me in on a PM?

Yonk said the fact it's a cliffhanger. And I certainly don't remember any shock :P

Well, there was also the part before that, which was shocking and somewhat unexpected as well... but yeah, the cliffhanger was mainly what I was talking about. :P

I'm a fan of both the books and the movies. I enjoy both for what they are and don't get annoyed if they don't follow the book strictly. One thing they put in this movie I'm curious how it'll be explained in movie 7 but it's okay. Some things work better in cinema than others. I liked this movie. It wasn't my favorite but it was good. The romance was done really well. So awkward.

Actually Rowling had a lot of input with the scripts. She has the Veto power too. She also said that she understood that not everything could make it in the movie but that she and the script writer did their best to make the story true to the character if not always the story.

I still haven't see it yet myself but I will be watching it next week when it comes out in IMAX  :D

And yes I know the shocker you're talking about. (At least I think I do. I've read all the books.)
