Bleh, well that's a pain, but glad for the curve! Do you study well with flashcards? I got through college and graduate school thanks to buying stock in them! Put the key word or two (or question) down on one side, and flip it over and write all the key points you need. Then just start memorizing.

Yes, my neighbors love me. The guy's mom was like "he's going to miss you when they move." :P Of course, I was like "glad to help...I'm on spring break."

My problem is I don't mind doing actual work, but I hate studying. Especially Comp Sci where there's so many little details that in a real job you'd just look up in the api. I think I still have an account on Flaschcard Excange, though, which I might try for the next quiz; then I can just copy directly from the api to the flashcard. Good idea Cat!

Glad to help! When I'd study, I'd hold all the cards in one hand, and go through them. As I had them memorized, I would put them on a pile on the desk. If I missed it, then it went back into the pile in my hand. That way, the ones I had the most trouble with, I kept going over and over. :) Hope it helps!

FlashcardExchange lets you do exactly that. They also have some complicated system for long-term memorization, but I never use that. :P

koko_99_2001

Ahh...actually didn't know what FlashcardExchange was :P I did everything by hand. Granted, I memorize well by writing and sight, so making the flashcards worked will for me.

-turning into a grumpy old professor who worries about funding already :-\ (which is why I haven't been on so much lately)

-waiting impatiently for the offer of admission from Cergy to arrive in the mail
-hoping said offer includes an offer of funding or at the very least an invitation or expectation of doing research and/or TAing for pay (both are pretty much a given in the States)

-waiting even more impatiently (since I KNOW I won't find out about it until April) to know about IRCSET

-finding myself in a bit of a conundrum: as fantastic as the Galway program is (and it is really amazingly fantastic), it's questionable if it's worth gambling my admission to other programs for it :-X

(if I don't get IRCSET, the next funding program I can apply to starts after UF's deadline to let them know whether or not I'm coming there)

((I mean, it's obviously not worth gambling other programs if it too were a gamble :-X))
