I read it, then promptly came here.  I'm reservedly happy about the possibilities here.  I don't want to get my hopes too high... but...

oh... there they go, flying into the sky.  Silly hopes.  :D

Honestly, I read it and caught myself grinning like a total idiot several times while doing so.  It's a great article that plays to my nostalgia and reminding me how much of my time I've personally invested in discussing and caring about this game both on and offline.  I had friends who offered genuine  "Geez... heard about that game you talked about.  That sucks." statements.

I've been a semi-lurker for such a long time, with periods of greater activity, but this has always been a place where I can find several like minded individuals.  We all enjoyed the original games (though I'm sure some of you would question MoE's validity in that definition - I don't know what's wrong with you people, it wasn't THAT bad... just VERY. VERY different) and we all bear emotional ties in one way or another to them.

I'm glad to be a part of this community.

I think my absolutely favorite response to the article is "open door" because how else do you win in a KQ game if you can't somehow "open door"! XD

*agrees with Cat that it's really well written too*

That would explain the C&D and why Activision didn't know about you...without those contracts there was no official license in place, and licenses-in-the-making weren't part of the legal file cabinet when it was transferred from VU to AV.

What I don't understand is how this could have happened. When AGDI got its fan license, VU was pretty clear about needing signed contracts sent over. (of course, they had to be clear since two of our games were already out back then) They needed those documents before we were even allowed to put a disclaimer on our site stating we had permission. When you sent virtual signatures, didn't you get a correction? Did they say "yes" when you asked them at the end: "is this all you need" only to change it to "no" later?

As for the talk with Activision, does this mean the only way to get off the hook is to pay Activision or is there still a chance of getting a fan license?

Cez

Erpy,

There were misunderstandings from both sides and much got lost in the merging. All that is in the past now, however. The important thing is that we are talking to them again at the moment. We will give you details as soon as we know more.

Thanks!

Post this article on the website, Atec. I haven't headed there yet so if you have, you're great!

GoneTooLong

Glad to hear things have taken a positive turn. I hope it leads to more good news in the future. You guys have earned it.

Great team photo, by the way!
Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But Doctor...I am Pagliacci." Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.

That's quite a costly blunder then, since they could afford to have miscommunications with you, but you could not afford to miscommunicate with them.

It's good you got to talk to them again and see if things can be worked out though. It's an interesting development. I assume, since the article mentioned "businessmen" this is a definite turn in the commercial direction. If you could indeed afford to buy the KQ series, can you still afford to give away the almost-completed first part for free?

RollingStone

The Demographic Survey might come in handy for figuring this out. I remember one of the questions was whether we'd be willing to buy the game. (I said yes, of course.)

Great article!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

My heart is thudding right now.  Exciting stuff!  But, like Snabbot, I'm going to be "cautiously optimistic."

Don't stop believing, guys!

A belief, a dream and an hope can be powerful. Keep spreading the word around and keep those petitions coming. This article is uplifting and is a good sign of all our hard work, you all should be proud of yourselves.  ;)

It was unfortunate. Problem was that the misunderstanding from their point of view made things look alright. But again, I'm just glad that we are talking again.

I cannot discuss anything of what we are discussing with Activision at the moment, because, well, we are still waiting for answers ourselves. We'll let you guys know as soon as I heard some news.

On a side note, I was playing through the game last night, and man, the intro is awesome!!!! It's probably one of my favorite things from the game. 6 minutes of cinematic heaven :) :suffer:
