The GOOD: My meds came today!!!
The BAD: Still haven't heard back from the people who are supposed to come show me how to inject myself with it.... which means I can't USE my meds yet!

The Good: My 5th Annual Pixar Marathon is going swell, and our music pastor just had a baby boy- named Graham! And they aren't KQ fans, I don't think.

The Bad: One of my favorite webcomics on Starmen.Net is ending prematurely, making me a very sad panda. And, no, I won't just forget about it. I highly doubt anyone gets that reference.

-The GOOD: Vacation! :D
-The BAD: I seem to be allergic to my own sweat, or heat, or something anyways, which means a rash, which means the ocean stings too much to go in :(
-The GOOD/BAD: Back home tomorrow.
-The GOOD/BAD: Time to start job hunting. :S

THE BAD: People who are TOO UNBELIEVABLY STUPID to figure out that "Elf of the Ring" could be the same elf they're looking for -- y'know, that's an elf who has a ring? -- because it's not the "official" name from a game's hintbook.
THE BAD: People who make the fun things I do to relax stressful when I'm SUPPOSED to be avoiding stress. (So far this has managed to happen with pretty much every single thing I do to try to relax. It's uncanny.)
THE GOOD: Started on my meds this week so I should be getting better in about two weeks.
THE GOOD: My birthday is Saturday!
THE BAD: I'm still too sick to do anything to celebrate it.

Yeah... no... lock yourself in a room and watch a TV series if you want to relax (with or without cat at cat's leisure). Trying to relax in ways that depend on other people only leads to frustration. ::)

*went back and forth on adding this or not*

The GOOD: My brother and my old roommate have been playing more video games with me of late :D
The BAD: another friend's video card is borked :( otherwise he would join us :(
The GOOD: I really need the video-gaming-grade attention at the moment... b/c...
The BAD: super-stressed about everything which is only exacerbated by...
The BAD: so... there's this guy doing an internship in my office over the summer that I've kind of had a crush on for a while... I am monumentally F A I L at this... :(

The BAD: oh, yeah... and I'm traveling to the States next week ::) and I'm terrified about my research projects never ending... and I really need to get them done... like now... :bomb:

The BAD: oh... and there's a TKD grading the day after I get back ::)

Okay, so there was this REEEEEAAAALLLLLLLLLY hot dad whose son was in my toddler class two years ago.  I swear, the man was an Adonis.  The angels sang when he walked in, the sun got brighter...oh man. It was bad.  I used to get so stupid and bashful everytime he walked in! I'd stumble over my shoes, twirl my hair (and I am NOT a hair twirler!), and grin like a lovable moron whenever he came to pick up. ::) Crushes--they're lame, ain't they?

THE GOOD: My Pixar Marathon is still going on strong, with only two more to go: Cars 2 (which, for once, I'm going to make an exception for watching at 8:30 PM as the last thing I do for the day and play it at 7:00 PM instead because a friend of mine is coming over) and Brave!

THE BAD: Uhhh...

But, see, the only stop gaps here are my very real concerns of how he might react and my own inaction... the inaction is an inveterate problem. ...it is fed by the concerns (is he straight? how homophobic is he? how likely is this to backfire horribly?? can I breach this subject with him without the rest of the office finding out? (there are at least two fairly homophobic people in the office as it is), etc.)

Ugh. I'm so sorry, Delling. Dealling with all that must really, really suck. >:( Just keep being awesome you, and that's the best thing you can do! The Good: Saw Brave today. It was awesome!

The Bad: There is a bug stuck in my laptop. No, literally, a little ant somehow got behind my screen and I smushed it and it had a tiny smudge on my screen. Oh well.

And, I just found out that one my favorite internet reviewers, Spoony, has left ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com to pursue his own career.

But I neeeeeeed people!
And really some of the relaxing things shouldn't involve other people, but apparently they just want to horn in.

And forgive me for my response here, this is the sort of thing that my friends tell me makes me "queen out" (I hate the term but the only better one is "Gay Best Friend out" which is almost as bad, I think :P)
QuoteThe BAD: so... there's this guy doing an internship in my office over the summer that I've kind of had a crush on for a while... I am monumentally F A I L at this... :(
OMG. First of all, nothing relaxes me like gossip so tell me EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nownownownonownownow!!
Hair color, eye color, glasses? No glasses? Tall? Thin? Muscular? Short? What's his clothing style like? Okay, if you're monumentally fail we may have to start small with the other questions. Have you talked to him yet?

So, I have moderate game I would say. Most of the time. The more interested I am in someone, however, the less flirtatious I am and the less game I have.
Okay, cannot believe I'm going to tell this story on the Internet but I will. Fine.
SO, last summer we had two interns at my store. One of whom was SUPER cute. To protect the innocent we'll call him "Peter". Now, some quick recon (my friends and I are experts) revealed that he was -- in fact -- gay. But taken. Still, super cute. But, I know I'm not making any moves -- so that should have put me back up to my usual cool factor, right? All before we ever speak -- very efficient, very cool. In theory.
So, our first conversation went something like this.
HIM: I don't think we've met yet.
ME: No, no, we haven't. I'm uh...... I'm...
HIM: I'm...
BOTH OF US: Peter.
Yes, that's right. Even though I'm wearing a clearly visible name tag. Even though my name is decidely NOT Peter. I managed to introduce myself with his name to him. (I sort of switched mid-sentence from stammering through introducing myself to finishing his sentence -- finishing his sentence would also have been a bad move though. All in all, it was very bad moment for my brain.)
The good news is, when you embarrass yourself that badly there's not really anywhere to go downhill to, so I did regain my cool factor pretty swiftly afterwards.

Short strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, glasses, but he rests them on top of his head a lot which causes him to squint across the room ;P (...it's cute). He's about my height and pretty thin.

His clothing style is usually fairly "dressy", sort of fancy coats, the odd dress shirt here and there in everyday attire, but lately, he's been wearing all of this Formula One stuff.

We have spoken a few times... the other day we were talking about Tolkien and I got to tell him about The Silmarillion... and all its many versions (he seemed interested). A week or so ago, he sprained his wrist while dancing (he fell... he does Irish step dancing professionally) and I may have invited him to Capoeira, suggesting it might help build up his wrists... but I don't think I was direct enough. :S :-\ And the other day when Lisa (another postgrad in the office) was saying to him how he should arrange for us all to go out and see one of his shows... she cut him off just as he was saying: "I think Bran...don would enjoy it." (Like he got as far as Bran... before she started talking over him ::) )

Not like this:

Because if he's switched from a fairly cute style of clothing to that then obvi he needs an intervention before you pursue this any further.

NERD! Plus points!
I'm not gonna lie. I love all things sword and sorcery, but I cannot cannot cannot stomach the Silmarillion or most of the "extra writings" (as I call them) from Tolkein. He has this whole world he developed, and it's awesome, and there's so much detail and I love it all.... and I want to consume it in an encyclopedia or wiki format and not, like, a book format. And if he'd just done that completely, he could have cut down on so much excess and ALL the stories that got written would be total classics, and totally readable and I would be a much happier person.

QuoteA week or so ago, he sprained his wrist while dancing (he fell... he does Irish step dancing professionally) and I may have invited him to Capoeira, suggesting it might help build up his wrists... but I don't think I was direct enough. :S :-\
Also, it sounds like it's something he wouldn't be able to do until after his wrist is better. While it's sprained, he's not going to be able to do as much so he needs a "friend" (i.e. date) to do stuff with him like movies and non-wristy activities!
Y'know, unless we need to slow this down for his fashion intervention.

No, but, see that's good. Since you were included in this plan, do not be too annoyed with this postgrad. Starting casually with group things might be good, and you may be able to leverage this postgrad into doing most of the work for you which is good if you're fumbling with directness. :P

All in all, I think this is going well. Except maybe for the clothes thing....

THE GOOD: Installing some games I have on my desktop onto my laptop for kicks. Now I can take my favorite RPG series, Aveyond, wherever I go! :) Sadly, I couldn't get Ahriman's Prophecy working, but... I have that still on my desktop anyway so it's not like it matters.

THE BAD: I went to the bank today, forgetting it was closed on Sunday.

Ha... that is very similar to how that conversation went: basically, long story short, read the story portions of Books of Lost Tales, because they are more narratively fulfilling to read than any of the other renditions/versions of the Silmarillion (and the world is just a lot more fun/interesting in those books).

That would have been a clever plan... but I was being fail at asking him to the movies as it was and he seemed to think his wrist was recovered enough to do some stuff, so I slipped the suggestion into conversation around the subject anyway.

Well, Lisa was just talking over him... so I'm pretty sure he said "I think Brandon would enjoy it" but can't be 100% certain.

That was my original thinking on this front, but Lisa more or less seems to dominate the conversation and force things along her expectations to some extent. ::)

I think the clothes thing is partially because of the current Formula One races... (though saying that XD he wore the same Formula One stuff for a large part of the fall semester :-X).

The WORST: I am going back to the States tomorrow ::) (I have a 6 hour layover in JFK :( ...this also imposes this awkward pause in this whole dealing with crush thing :-\)
The GOOD: at least I'll get to see my grandmothers and some old friends (probably)

Nonono, those Formula One shirts are totally acceptable! I'm familiar with the... ahem... material. Completely acceptable.

Anyways, I suppose I'll have to give more advise/dishing once you're back in proximity.

THE GOOD: Feeling not awful today!
THE BAD: Kind of have the energy to like do stuff but I know that's a terrible terrible terrible idea.
THE DULL: Realized my Wiki needed some cleaning up and stuff to make it more browse-able and searchable -- more than 1400 pages and I have to do stuff on like all of them. And not the fun stuff.

The BAD: I'm apart from Boyfriend again. :(
The BAD: I need to have surgery in the next week to reverse the operation that they did six weeks ago before it's too late and I stay like this forever.
The BAD: Today's been one of those days where you fall asleep after hours of screaming and periodically wake up screaming and then birds wake you up with their infernal chirping and then the first thing you do is drug yourself silly because as soon as you wake up and move, the contractions start again.
