Well, Shamir has an unused talkie portrait (complete with eye sparkle), and there was an unfinished background that looked like it was supposed to be used for the Land of the Dead.
I don't remember anything else....I'll have to give the game another look through one of these days. :P

Yeah, let me know. I've only played through once (working on #2 right now), so my knowledge is probably less than yours.

I just love finding goodies in game's program files.

I know what you mean. I just wish there was a way to patch some of it back into the game proper...QFG3 had some cool stuff I'd have loved to see, and everyone loves the creepy innkeeper! :P

Rub 'im out!

When I first found SCI Resource Viewer, it was a very, very happy day.

I never feel like I've truly completed a video game until I've been able to analyze its file structure and extract its data (audio, video, text, textures, etc.).

I don't suppose you've found any programs that help with analyzing Lucasarts games and the Kyrandia series?

I'd love to be helpful here, but I've never played either.  :(

I mean, I've played plenty of 2000s Star Wars games (Jedi Knight series, etc.), but nothing from the KQ era.

Ugh, creepy!  The Land of the Dead is so nightmarish.

So...I was writing about King's Quest today (since that's what my paper is on) my title was "My Journey Through Daventry."

Understandably, Word underlined Daventry in red to tell me that it was misspelled, so I right-clicked it with the intention of telling Word to add it to the dictionary when I noticed one of the suggestions was "Adventure."

...This is totally not a coincidence and that's entirely where Daventry comes from, isn't it?

My mind is blown, and I'm not sure whether it's because this is world-shattering or because it's 3 AM.

Discuss.

That's pretty cool. Can you tell us more about your paper? Sounds interesting.

I'm interested in what the paper's about too. :D

I wrote a paper about TSL for school once. Don't think I have it anymore though. :P

Rosella

Well, I'm majoring in Game Design and the paper is basically "So....why are you here?" :P

TSL was obviously a huge influence on that. XD

That's so cool! :-) I find nothing better than being able to write papers on something you love.

I'm a double major myself... and one of them was in English Lit... and I was able to write my graduation thesis on none-other than Gabriel Knight. I was very lucky to have a prof who was responsive to "pop-culture literature."

I wish I could go back and redo my college career in game design. Working on TSL has been a lot of fun, however my teachers never encouraged papers on video games. They actually said playing them, as often as I do, is not good for the brain.   8)

Haids1987

That's such bull!  Playing video games is actually good for your hand-eye coordination.  Your teacher is lame.

I would also argue that well-made video games can expand your mind. Bioshock, Half Life 2, and King's Quest have all made me think in ways that only good books and movies can.

I played Half-Life 2 my freshman year in college and I agree... That game makes me reflect, think, and feel in ways I never thought possible. I know it isn't adventure, but Half-Life 2 is an astounding game on all levels. I have yet, since that game, found a game that made me feel even remotely the same way.

I love getting into debates with friends about video games.  We even talked about Bayonetta and why the creators picked the designs that they used for the different type of angels, and that game's supposed to be just Devil May Cry with strip teasing.

The only paper I recall ever writing about a video game was a research paper on Final Fantasy X and X-2 and the role of the Church of Yevon in the games as well as comparisons to our religions.
I have my cake and eat it too, until it's gone.  Then I can't do either.
