First off, I would like to congratulate you guys on your near completion of the... game?  The whole thing?  The first part?  It's gone through some evolutions and I may not be caught up.  I stumbled on this site in one of my online scavenger hunts to find games that even remotely resemble the games that I used to love and play in my childhood.  It is so cool and such an accomplishment on your part that you have brought it this far out of love for the game and the story.  Brilliant.
My question was about the game spec's, what it will run on, etc.  This is probably listed somewhere else on the site, but I wanted to see if you could post it here on the forum too.  Apologies if it is stupidly easy to find and I didn't. :P

I am currently the owner of a Macbook Pro, I also own a (now ancient) PC from 2001 too.  Heh.  I've found that if I want to play any classic PC games I have to play it on that. We have a slightly newer PC with WinXP on it, but it is out of commission from a little drop.  Could be fixed tho.   But I wanted to know what you're gearing TSL to run on, and if I have a prayer of running it at all on anything I have in the house. Otherwise I have to begin strategizing now.  Thank you for your time and all your effort! :D

When I was beta testing at the beginning, I was running it on an older (2002) machine with 256 MB (RAM? I always get the terms mixed up!). It was dead slow! I added a gig and that helped, but I couldn't tell whether it was the age of the machine or the fact the game was needing higher specs to run smoothly. Probably both!

Would it run on the 2001? I've not tried the newest version on my old machine...if it did, expect tons of slowness. I don't know if it will run on the Mac, though :(

I'm not much help, but wanted to give my experience :)

It will run on a Mac if you emulate Windows -- we'd previously discussed this on the old forums (which is how I know). Which, as you probably know, is the best way to run to any Windows game. :P

lol, since I don't have a Mac, I never thought about emulating Windows XD

Thanks for the advice!  I'll see what I can do without, y'know, blowing stuff up!  Good times!

I succesfully ran the game in VMWare 7 with XP and 512 MB RAM. It wasn't very happy - the voices weren't there most of the time, and there were some weird video glitches, but I was able to get through it. It might improve with some tweaking of the VM - I don't have time to look into that, though. I would guess VMWare Fusion would work, too (but you would need a copy of Windows). There's also Wine - I don't know if that's been tested, either, though.

Well, the approximate minimum specs for the game is:

Windows XP, Vista or 7
1GHz Intel or AMD Processor
512 MB RAM (1GB recommended for Vista and 7)
100% DirectX compatible video card with 256 MB video RAM
DirectX 9.0c+

Porting the game to Mac and Linux is a possibility, it's nothing we are currently focusing on but yeah there's still a chance it might happen. :)
