My thoughts on the first episode!
« on: July 21, 2010, 05:58:50 AM »
Since I'm a reviewer for AdventureGamers.com (unfortunately, I won't be the one reviewing the episode), I followed our usual format to post my thoughts on the game!  ;D

I finally finished the first episode!  ;)

The Good: I really liked the episode. For me, it definitely had a King's Quest feeling to it that I found deeply endearing: the settings were lovely reproduced, the atmosphere was exactly what I'd expect from a Roberta Williams' game and the writing was very good. I enjoyed clicking on everything just to hear what the narrator - who has an amazing voice, by the way - has to say about it, and I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer amount of details gone into making the world coherent and alive. I also liked that the episode was easy and fairly straight-forward: the pace allowed me to be sucked into the story without worrying to much about puzzles and inventory items, which is exactly how I like my adventures. I found the voice acting really good (with one notable exception) and the graphics just perfect, considering that this isn't a AAA title or even a published adventure. As a side note: I simply adored Azure  :D The voice actor was top-notch!

The Bad: While I didn't find the narrator's comments long-winded, a few of them are perhaps a bit too expository. The only gripe I have with the voice acting is the actor playing Oberon and the Arch Druid, whom I didn't like very much, especially when playing Oberon. I also had some pathfinding problems, but nothing major.

Bottom Line: I really enjoyed the episode and I'm already looking forward to the second episode!

Thanks Andrea! I'm glad you liked it! :) Hopefully your official reviewer for this one feels the same. ;) The 'bad' feedback is much the same that we've been getting elsewhere, and we're doing what we can to try and adjust at this point to incorporate some of that for Episode 2.

And welcome to the forums!

I just want to know where you got that star picture from and why none of the other reviewers put enough effort in to use stars!

You get an A++ on your review, and I'm downgrading everyone else's reviews to D-s :D
