If Silver Lining can come back from the dead, so should THIS game...

Sam and Max: Freelance Police.

A game that Steve Purcell and several people at Telltale worked on around the same time as Silver Lining was being worked on.  It was based on Steve Purcell's "Sam and Max" series.

Don't know who Sam and Max are?  Sam is a dog that wears a suit, striped tie, and fedora hat, while Max is the white rabbitlike companion who wears know clothes at all.  Together, these two are the Freelance Police!

Many graphic adventure gamers know the tragic date of March 3, 2004, when LucasArts cancelled the game about 2/3 of the way in production.  LucasArts also fired the people who worked on the project.  Apparently the company wanted to shift its focus from graphic adventure games to even more Star Wars games.

When those people formed a company called Telltale, they acquired the rights to the Sam and Max franchise.  However, LucasArts still has the rights to the source code to that game (as well as Sam and Max Hit the Road as well).

But on June 1, 2009, we were surprised when LucasArts revived the Monkey Island franchise.  In fact, you might already be playing "Special Edition" remakes of the first two Monkey Island games, with enhanced graphics and top-tier voice acting!

Telltale and LucasArts even worked together for the episodic "Tales of Monkey Island" series.  So I see no reason why those two companies shouldn't work together to rescue "Sam and Max: Freelance Police" from gaming limbo.

In fact, I have even created a Facebook group to give this game the support it deserves:

My group already has 75 members as of this posting.  Among them are Bill Farmer, who supplied the voice of Sam in that game (and is also the official voice of Disney's Goofy), and David Fox, who created Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders.

But I feel the group could use some more members!  If you feel passionate about this game and want it to come back from cancellation, don't be afraid to join!

After all, we brought Silver Lining back, so we should be able to bring this game back too.  All we need to do is believe, and persevere, and never let anyone discourage us from our goal.

If you want to talk about this game, don't be shy!  Remember, this is an open forum, so if you want to be heard, speak up!
