King's Quest: Special Edition

So, being a huge Monkey Island fan as well as King's Quest fan, I took the time to download the Special Edition of the second game of the former mentioned series in my sentence.

Monkey Island, for those who can't follow my nonsense.

Anyway, after downloading and playing (and loving), the thought came to me:

Wouldn't it be awesome if the King's Quest series got the same treatment?  Stylised visuals, voice acting for all of the games, and the ability to switch back and forth between old and newskool at will.

Discuss how awesome or not you'd find that.

I would Love that so much, but Sierra is Dead and Gone, so maybe Activision can see how good TSL is and actually Remake KQ 1-8, not that i count on it in witch i dont  :P

I Forgotten how KQ1/KQ2/KQ3 used to be and thought the VGA Versions were Awsome, then i read this.  ???

KQ3VGA ignored that and put 3 months between the reunion, and the passing on the cap scene (in which he helps his father repair the land).
Why cant the People who made the Remakes stay with the Originals :(

Lets see if those People who is Remaking KQ4VGA, can Stick with the Original, are they even still around.  ::)

perhaps they want to add a bit of their own creativity to the game and think that just remaking makes it boring and wants to improve it.

They Basicly Remade KQ1VGA 99% to its Original, with some Minor Changes and thats about it. ;)

I Loved the Town Added in KQ2VGA, but the Whole Father thing should've been Scrapped.  ???

KQ3VGA wasent bad and i loved the Opening with the Maid giving the Baby to Manannan and then at the End, Mordack picks up the Cat :D

But now that i forgotten a little about the First 3, the VGA Versions are stuck in my head and TSL doesent look so hot now when thinking back to the Originals, i Assumed TSL is Also gonna take Pieces from the VGA Games.  :P

I think it'd actually be a bit amusing to play the first three games in their original format with the only modification being full voiceovers.

To be honest, I loved the remakes a lot. I loved KQ2VGA+ a lot because of the added father plot-line. Especially considering that The Father was in the original, but barely so. They had like a scene at the very end with the Father. What I love is that the remake added to it, and also brought in some Mask of Eternity references. I like to think of the fan games as a different take on the series, and it's refreshing to see that. And besides, the AGDI remakes have been phenomenal. Like professional looking.

The Father wasn't in the original at all, d-d, but I do love the plotline. KQ2 was always my least favorite because it all seemed so very random and loosely tied together. AGDI remedied that and turned it into one of the most epic quests in the series.

I had thought that at the very very end of KQ2 there was a very very small reference to someone named The Father. I could be wrong though. It's been ages since I've actually played the original KQ2 all the way through.

Might it be a reference to the priest in the church? :P I know the companion named him "Brother Fragola" but he might be an abbot in the game, and hence would be called a father.

It's been a while since I played KQ2+, but I kinda liked the Father and the changes they made. I can understand why people wouldn't like it, but I see why they did it--people expected to know how the game was going to go, so they decided to surprise them. :)

He was referred to as a monk in the original KQ2. There was no mention of "The Father", and he was totally fanmade. That being said, he is an interesting character. Not one who I like all that much, but interesting nonetheless.

As for a "special edition"... Perhaps someone could just play and record the game and have people do voice-overs for all of the text, then just put it on Youtube or something. *shrugs*It could work.

I also loved KQ2VGA. The original is good too, but it seems very disjointed. I prefer the remake.
KQ3VGA was...okay. I liked having better graphics, voices, better sounds and all that, but some of the changes seemed very unnecessary (like the changed ending). I especially disliked what they did with the spells; automating them took all of the fun out of it. After seeing what's been done with that engine previously, I get the feeling that they could have kept most of the interaction with mixing the ingredients and all that and just decided not to. That was a big disappointment. Otherwise, I think it was a decent remake. There were other gripes I had, but I can't remember them right now.

I think they didn't for kind of the same reason I suspect the Cliffs of Logic were done away with in TSL -- the spells were a sort of copy protection. You couldn't cast them without the manual. I don't think IA wanted to make that a necessity for their remake.

To be honest though, and I know I'm in the minority here, I liked the ending of the KQ3 remake (I didn't care for their changes to Alexander's kidnapping, however). It just seems more likely that Graham would want to pass on his adventurers cap after actually getting to know his son for at least a little while. And Alexander, having no idea the significance of the cap, would likely not care that much that it was being passed on. All Alexander knows about his father at this point is that he's a king and whether or not he gives good hugs, you know? (I know Rosella told him "all about their parents" but it's not quite the same as getting to know someone.)

I still have to play the KQ3 remake. But from the little I have played (which is to say five minutes...) I'm not fond of the voice acting... The textures are great, but I just don't seem to like the narrator... Or Gwydion's voice for that matter...

Easy enough. Integrate the steps into the game. Have text boxes come up with each step that tell you exactly what to do.
