It's not so much a lisp, it's what we call a "Sibilant S" -- I don't know if that's the actual term or not -- but it's what Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is (partly) about. When I hear people talk with them (other than myself, I have one :P) all I can think of is the chapter where he writes about being forced into speech therapy by his school, and he spends the whole time trying to avoid the letter "s" with his therapist... and finally she tricks him into saying "I'm sorry."

And, yes, Hero, Crispin also has a sibilant s in KQ5. A lot of people do though.

So what exactly IS a sibilant s? :P

Well, a lisp is more of a "th" instead of an "s" -- like we've been saying (see "Crithpin" above, thanks Mango!) whereas a sibiliant s is more of an emphasis on the s. Maybe I'll record myself saying "emphasis" and post it -- that will definitely demonstrate it. :P

You all crack me up  ;D

But you can't deny that it sounds a little..."fabulous".  Whoever Jesse Cox is (what a fitting name) needs to tone down his "s"es or the recording engineer needs to use a HEAVY de-esser on em'!

Sure sure, speech impediments are a part of every day life.  But it's like adding shtick when none is needed.

It's just a weird image for me, of a wise man or "arch druid" that sounds like he's about to break into a sweatin' to the 80s video.

ALRIGHT GRAHAM, LETH GET THAT BOOTY MOVIN'!! YOU THEXY KING YOU!

Don't you mean...

FABULOUTH?

No, he means fabuloussss. Like I keep saying, it's sibilant, not a lisp. :P

I definitely felt the voice actor for the arch druid was poorly cast.  You've got this tall african dude with a cheetah on his head and he talks like a fruit.  Absolutely stood out IMO.

Hi Grahamsth!  I'm going to send you on a questht!  Find thesthe five itemth, and don't forget you need a magical brown sack!  Tee Hee.  Toodleloo!

MusicallyInspired

Sounded more nasally than it sounded like he had a lisp of some kind. It was all coming from his nose. I can get past it, though.

That's funny. The AD is one of my fav actors in the game. His job as Oberon is nothing out of this world, but then again, he didn't have much lines to work with.

With the AD, I think he did a phenomenal job. He has that "father figure" to Graham, guiding him through his quests. Maybe I'm just in love of the opening sequence of ep 2 ;)

I just picture the arch druid speaking more like Morgan Freeman than Perez Hilton.

Fierce Deity

I had Rhotacism when I was younger. I went through many sessions of therapy to correct it just to find out that I physically couldn't pronounce 'r' because my tongue was too short to reach the back of my mouth to pronounce the 'r' sound. They wanted to perform oral surgery to make my tongue longer, but then I would have looked like Gene Simmons.

I'll try to explain again, it was already said as sibilant, but in layman's terms I would describe it as a 'hiss' like that of a snake. It's just an 's' that is accentuated. It's easier to just see someone differentiate the sounds, but the 'hiss' comparison is the closest I can get to an explanation without making a video of myself pronouncing words with a sibilant 's'.

i dont know what the tsl team thinks about modding...
but i happen to think oberon sounds better after changing the pitch down from C to B with audacity.

i really like the voice acting from graham and the narrator.

While certain roles might have steroetype voices it doesn't mean that everyone in such a position has a corresponding voice. it is not the voice that usually gets a person to such position but other qualities he/she posseses.

Come on, like nobody less obnoxious than Perez has a sibilant "s". ::)
....that being said, I can't think of anyone else who's famous who does either. :P

César - I think you missed the "Suffer" smilie; we ended up with a mere wink.

What other kind of S is there, Delling?
