Nope... just re-played it with the text option to make sure - he's called Shadrack in both letters. And I've just realized I was spelling their names wrong the whole time!   Darn.

Really? I was positive I heard "Shade" somewhere. I'm gonna go check.

AHA! The King's Quest Companion!

In their "novelization" of KQ6, Shadrack signs his letter to Alhazred as Shade!

Granted, that's not quite canon, but the Companion is official, isn't it? And endorsed by Roberta Williams herself!

I have the KQ companion, but it doesn't have KQ6 in it so I wouldn't have known that.  It does seem strange that they contradict each other.
I suppose its true that Shadrack might not be his real name...

lol.  If you're talking about KQ2+, there's no harm in adding a plot to make things more interesting.   Sorry, I just really didn't like the jumbled-ness of the original KQ2.
I didn't know the novelization was written before the game came out.  Did Peter Spear have an inside track with Sierra, or ask them what was going to happen in the game?  Or is he really getting e-mails from Daventry? >ominous music plays<

I'd go with what the game has versus the books, official or not. Game is the bottom line and what more people will have played/will know. Shadrack it is far as I'm concered.

QC, I never said Tierra/AGDI's plot was bad at all!! Don't go putting words in our mouths, meh.    AGDI did an excellent job with KQ2+ and its plot enhancments, I've never once said anything to the contrary.  

The only thing I DID say was that our BCS stuff was going to be beyond that. That was all! Yes, we are a bit biased Storm, but that much of the game plot was written prior to my joining the team, so it's not entirely my own work I'm being biased about.

Do the BCS threaten the safety of the entire world?  In QfG you save the world twice (3, and 4), but the only time that happens in KQ is in MoE and that doesn't count.  The rest of the time (except possibly in KQ7, I dunno) you're just saving a single kingdom or a single person.  I want King Graham to save the world!  I want Alexander to save the world!  I want Connor to throw himself off a cliff for the world!

The Companion doesn't deny that his name is Shadrack at all; it just throws in "Shade" as a nickname. In Alhazred's letter, he still refers to him as Shadrack.
